Menard Art Museum
The Menard Art Museum (メナード美術館) is a museum located in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. The museum was founded by the owners of Nippon Menard Cosmetic Co. and opened in 1987. Art works in the permanent collection include "''Portrait of Jeanne Martin in hat adorned with rose''" by Édouard Manet (1881), and "''Man in a Field or Evening, the End of the Day''" (1889) by Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. The museum has a large collection of Japanese paintings of the 19th and 20th centuries. On display are both works of art in traditional Japanese style of painting (''Nihonga''), as well as images that have been influenced by Western art movements (''Yōga''). is a city located in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. , the city had an estimated population of 148,872 in 68,174 households, and a population density of . The total area of the city was . Komaki is commonly associated with the former Komaki Airport, which is located on the border between Komaki and neighboring Kasugai. Maeda Seison
was the art-name of a nihonga painter in the Taishō and Shōwa periods of Japan. His legal name was Maeda Renzō. He is considered one of the greatest contemporary Japanese painters, and one of the leaders of the Nihonga movement. Biography Maeda was born in what is now Nakatsugawa city, Gifu Prefecture in 1885. His mother died when he was 13, and he moved to Hongō in Tokyo with his father. In 1901, through the introduction of Ozaki Kōyō, Maeda enrolled at the art school headed by Kajita Hanko, from whom he received the name "Seison" in 1902. He met and befriended fellow student, Kobayashi Kokei, whose work influenced many of Maeda's early paintings. Maeda was a member of the '' Kojikai'' artistic group from 1907, and of the Japan Fine Arts Academy (''Teikoku Bijitsuin'') from 1914. He visited Korea in 1915 and China in 1919. Fujishima Takeji
was a Japanese people, Japanese painter, noted for his work in developing Romanticism and impressionism within the ''yoga (art), yōga'' (Western-style) art movement in late 19th- and early 20th-century Japanese painting. As one of the most popular artists in post-war Japan, Higashiyama was awarded the Japan Art Academy Prize in 1956 and the Order of Culture in 1969.
