''Menace II Society (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)'' is the soundtrack for Albert and Allen Hughes' 1993 teen hood drama film ''Menace II Society''. It was released on May 26, 1993 via Jive Records, and consists primarily of hip hop music. The album is composed of sixteen songs and features performances by Boogie Down Productions, Brand Nubian, Da Lench Mob, DJ Quik, Hi-Five, Juanita Stokes, Kenya Gruv, MC Eiht of Compton's Most Wanted, Mz Kilo, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, The Cutthroats, The Dangerous Crew, UGK and YG'z. Gregory Fernard Hutchison (born August 4, 1967), known as Big Hutch and Cold 187um, is an American rapper and producer, and leader of the rap group Above the Law. He currently records for his self-founded label. Biography Hutchison is the nephew of late R&B singer Willie Hutch. Above the Law signed to Ruthless Records in late 1989, releasing their debut album, ''Livin' Like Hustlers'', in 1990. The album was overseen and co-produced by producer Dr. Dre, who would soon leave the label and start up Death Row Records, and featured members of the group N.W.A. Cold 187um contributed to the success of Ruthless after Dre's departure and the breakup of N.W.A. Streiht Up Menace
"Streiht Up Menace" is the debut single by MC Eiht off the soundtrack of 1993 movie ''Menace II Society''. The lyrics of the song focus on the life of the main character in the movie, Kaydee "Caine" Lawson (Tyrin Turner), acting as a sort of plot summary for the film. Compton's Most Wanted also did this with another song from a soundtrack with the song "Growin' Up In The Hood" from the ''Boyz n the Hood'' soundtrack. The track was later released on the 2001 Compton's Most Wanted compilation album "When We Wuz Bangin" and on the 2010 MC Eiht compilation album "The Best Of MC Eiht". Video The video for "Streiht Up Menace" depicts MC Eiht alone in a slightly foggy bedroom. The video also features clips from the movie. Chad Lamont Butler (December 29, 1973 – December 4, 2007), better known by his stage name Pimp C, was an American rapper and record producer. He was best known for his work with Bun B as one half of the hip-hop duo Underground Kingz (UGK). Aaron Tyler (born May 22, 1971), better known by his stage name MC Eiht (pronounced MC eight), is an American rapper and actor. Many of his songs are based on his life in Compton.
