Ralph Murphy
Ralph Murphy (May 1, 1895 – February 10, 1967) was an American film and television director. Born in Rockville, Connecticut, Murphy was active in films from 1931 through 1962, with some work in television. From 1941 to 1944 he was married to Gloria Dickson, whom he directed in ''I Want a Divorce''. Forrester Harvey
Forrester Harvey (27 June 1884 – 14 December 1945) was an Irish film actor. From 1922 until his death year Harvey appeared in more than 115 films. He was credited for about two-thirds of his film appearances, but some of his roles were uncredited. The burly actor with a mustache mostly played comic supporting roles, often as an innkeeper. His best-known role was Beamish in the first two Tarzan films starring Johnny Weissmuller. Together with Claude Rains, he played in ''The Invisible Man'', as a tavern owner and husband of a hysterical Una O'Connor, and in '' The Wolf Man''. He appeared in two films for Alfred Hitchcock, first in his British silent film '' The Ring'' (1927), later in Hitchcock's Hollywood debut ''Rebecca'' (1940). A number of reference works incorrectly identify him as having played Little Maria's father in ''Frankenstein''. Harvey's interment was in California. Arletta Duncan (31 December 1914 – 28 October 1985), was an American actress. After being selected from a photo contest, she attended Universal Pictures' "little red school house," a film school for aspiring actors and actresses. She was described as having blue eyes, brown hair and a sweet singing voice, and was rumored to be dating Tom Brown. She appeared in 11 films between 1931 and 1937. Montagu Love (15 March 1877 – 17 May 1943) was an English screen, stage and vaudeville actor. Early years Born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, Love was the son of Harry Love and Fanny Louisa Love, née Poad; his father was listed as accountant on the 1881 English Census. Career Educated in Great Britain, Love began his career as an artist, with his first important job as an illustrator for ''The Illustrated Daily News'' in London. Love's acting debut came with an American company in a production in the Isle of Wight. His Broadway debut occurred in ''The Second in Command'' (1913). He was typically cast in heartless villain roles. In the 1920s, he played with Rudolph Valentino in ''The Son of the Sheik'', opposite John Barrymore in ''Don Juan'', and appeared with Lillian Gish in 1928's '' The Wind''. Robert (Tex) Allen
Robert Allen (born Irvine E. Theodore Baehr, March 28, 1906 – October 9, 1998), was an American actor in both feature films and B-movie westerns between 1935 and 1944. Biography Allen was born in Mount Vernon, New York and graduated from the New York Military Academy in 1924, where he rode in the academy cavalry. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1929 with a degree in English. In vacations he had driven a truck as a labourer. He worked for a bank which soon failed in the Great Depression. He flew briefly with the Curtis Flying service as a commercial pilot. He first came to the screen in 1926 before signing a standard acting contract with Paramount Pictures, in 1929. He appeared in the Marx Brothers movie ''Animal Crackers'' and several other small parts. Then, he signed with Columbia Pictures in 1935. He also later contracted with 20th Century Fox. Lillian Gertrude Michael (June 1, 1911 – December 31, 1964) was an American film, stage and television actress. Biography The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Michael, she was born in Talladega, Alabama. She graduated from Talladega High school at the age of 14. In her youth, she played piano and organ, and she began Little Theatres in two communities. She became a singer on the radio. Michael attended the University of Alabama, where she studied law, and Converse College, Spartanburg, South Carolina, pursuing a study of music. Then she went to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music to continue studying music. Her work there earned her a scholarship for studying five years in Italy. Her childhood home in Talladega, Alabama was destroyed by fire in 2007. In 1929 in Cincinnati she made her stage debut in the Stuart Walker stock theater company. Herbert Halliwell Hobbes (16 November 187720 February 1962) was an English actor. Early years The future actor was the son of William Albert Hobbes (1841-1909), a Warwickshire solicitor, and his wife, Marion Hobbes, née Dennis, (1838-1925). His schooling came at Trinity College in Straford-on-Avon. Career Hobbes's stage debut was as a member of Frank Benson's company, in the role of Tybalt in ''Romeo and Juliet'' in 1898, playing in Shakespearean rep alongside actors such as Ellen Terry and Mrs Patrick Campbell. His earliest American work was as an actor and director from 1906, before moving to Hollywood in early 1929 (aged 51) to play older men's roles such as clerics, butlers, doctors, lords and diplomats. Berton Churchill
Berton Churchill (December 9, 1876 – October 10, 1940) was a Canadian stage and film actor. Early years Churchill was born in Toronto, Ontario. After his family moved to New York City, he graduated from high school there, studied law at night, and was a weekly participant in the William J. Florence Dramatic Society in Jersey City. As a young man interested in the theater, he appeared in stock companies as early as 1903 and worked as a newspaper pressman, eventually becoming a foreman and leader of his union. Progressing in his acting, he began performing with the Berkely Lyceum. Career Churchill acted for two years with a traveling repertory company, developing skills that eventually took him to Broadway. The death of his father caused him to return home to work as a press foreman. Eventually he returned to acting in small parts. His career received a boost when E. F. Albee saw him perform in Boston.
