Memphis South Stars
The Memphis South Stars were a minor professional ice hockey team in Memphis, Tennessee, that replaced the Memphis Wings in the city. They played in the Central Professional Hockey League for two seasons ( 1967–68 and 1968–69) and were a farm team of the Minnesota North Stars of the National Hockey League. In 1969 the team was moved to become the Iowa Stars in Waterloo, Iowa. Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis is a city in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is the seat of Shelby County in the southwest part of the state; it is situated along the Mississippi River. Bill Goldsworthy
William Alfred Goldsworthy (August 24, 1944 – March 29, 1996) was a professional ice hockey right winger who played for three teams in the National Hockey League for 14 seasons between 1964 and 1978, mostly with the Minnesota North Stars. He retired from playing after two partial seasons in the World Hockey Association. Playing career Signed by the Boston Bruins of the NHL as a teenager, Goldsworthy played his junior days with the Bruins' Ontario Hockey Association affiliate Niagara Falls Flyers, a powerful team with future NHL stars Derek Sanderson, Bernie Parent, Jean Pronovost, Don Marcotte, Doug Favell and Rosaire Paiement among numerous others. Bill Plager
William Ronald Plager (July 6, 1945 — January 3, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. Plager started his National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Minnesota North Stars in 1967. He also played for the St. Louis Blues and Atlanta Flames. He left the NHL after the 1976 season. Personal life Before playing in the National Hockey League, Plager played for the Peterborough Petes in Peterborough, Ontario, where he met his wife Donna Hickey. After retiring from the NHL, Plager returned to Peterborough with Donna, sons William Jr., Brett and daughter Dara. Plager is the brother of former NHL players/coaches Bob Plager and Barclay Plager. All three played together for four seasons with the St. Louis Blues. Plager retired from hockey and became a manager at Quaker Oats Peterborough plant and was head coach of Atom B/C IceKats, girls hockey teams in the Peterborough Girls Hockey Association. Lou Nanne
Louis Vincent Anthony Nanne (born June 2, 1941) is a Canadian-born American former National Hockey League defenceman and general manager. He played in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars between 1968 and 1978 and then served as the general manager of the team from 1978 to 1988. He also coached the team briefly during the 1978–79 season. Internationally Nanne played for the American national team at the 1968 Winter Olympics and the 1976 and 1977 World Championships, as well as 1976 Canada Cup, and managed the American teams at the 1981, 1984, and 1987 Canada Cup. He is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame and of the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame. Ted McCaskill
Edward Joel McCaskill (October 29, 1936 – March 3, 2016) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played four games in the National Hockey League and 91 games in the World Hockey Association between 1968 and 1974. He played with the Minnesota North Stars, and he then served as player-coach with the Los Angeles Sharks. Playing career McCaskill played junior hockey with the Kitchener Canucks and later the Kapuskasing Huskies, then made the move to the UK, playing two years in the British Ice Hockey Elite League. Upon returning to the US, he became a dominant force with the Nashville Dixie Flyers, and his offensive prowess earned the attention of NHL clubs, however, he would spend most of his playing years in the Western Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks and Phoenix Roadrunners. Barry MacKenzie
John Barry MacKenzie (born August 16, 1941) is a Canadian retired ice hockey player. He played for Canada men's national ice hockey team, Canada at the 1964 Winter Olympics, 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics, winning one bronze medal in 1968, as well as in three Ice Hockey World Championships, World Championships, winning a further two more bronzes. He would also play 6 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars during the 1968–69 NHL season, 1968–69 season. Parker MacDonald
Calvin Parker MacDonald (June 14, 1933 — August 17, 2017) was a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger who played for five National Hockey League teams between 1953 and 1969. He later coached the Minnesota North Stars and the Los Angeles Kings. Playing career MacDonald played in the Ontario Hockey Association for the Toronto Marlboros in the 1951–52 season and starting turning heads. He was a natural goal-scorer but the management felt he needed time to blossom. He made his NHL debut in 1952, playing one game for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The management liked what they saw and promoted MacDonald to the AHL the following season.
