Henry Beardmore
Henry Beardmore (7 February 1863 – 29 August 1932) was an Australian politician. He was born in Melton to butcher Edwin James Beardmore and Flora McDonald. He grew up in Benalla and became a butcher at Glenrowan before becoming a farmer near Wodonga. On 15 July 1885 he married Agnes Annie Lee, with whom he had four children; she died in 1892, and on 23 August 1893 he married Jessie Muirhead, with whom he had a further ten children. He served on Wodonga Shire Council from 1898 to 1922, with four terms as president (1900–01, 1908–10, 1911–12, 1914–17). John Bowser
Sir John Bowser (2 September 1856 – 10 June 1936), Australian politician, was the 26th Premier of Victoria. He was born in London, the son of an army officer, and arrived in Melbourne as a child with his family. He grew up at Bacchus Marsh and when he left school got a job with the ''Bacchus Marsh Express''. As a young man he went to Scotland and worked on newspapers while studying at University of Edinburgh. Returning to Australia, he settled in Wangaratta, where he farmed and managed the ''Wangaratta Chronicle'', which he eventually bought. In October 1894 Bowser was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for Wangaratta and Rutherglen. Wangaratta and Rutherglen was renamed to Electoral district of Wangaratta in 1906; it was renamed again to Electoral district of Wangaratta and Ovens in 1927; Bowser held the seat until November 1929. Murray Bourchier
Brigadier Sir Murray William James Bourchier, CMG, DSO, VD (4 April 1881 – 16 December 1937) was an Australian soldier and politician. He was Deputy Premier of Victoria from April 1935 until June 1936. Early life Murray was the eldest son of Edward and Francis Bourchier, owners of the Woodland Park property near Strathmerton, Victoria. He was educated privately in Melbourne and afterwards worked at Woodland Park. Military career World War I Bourchier commanded a CMF light horse troop at Numurkah, Victoria from 1909 to 1914. At the outbreak of World War I he was commissioned into the 4th Light Horse Regiment and left with the first contingent of the First Australian Imperial Force. He served with the regiment in the Gallipoli, Egyptian, Sinai, Palestine and Syrian campaigns. Ernie Bond (politician)
Ernest Edward "Ernie" Bond (29 June 1897 – 25 July 1984) was an Australian politician. He was born in Heywood to rural worker Robert Bond and Sarah Jane Mullens. He attended Geelong High School and became a schoolteacher at Lavers Hill and Heywood, and then head teacher at Greenwald and Condah. On 20 July 1923 he married Ethel Thomas, with whom he had three children. A member of the Labor Party's Heywood branch from the age of seventeen, he won a by-election for the Victorian Legislative Assembly seat of Glenelg in 1924; he transferred to Port Fairy and Glenelg in 1927. In 1932 he was expelled from the Labor Party over his support for the Premiers' Plan; he was re-elected as an independent and was readmitted to the Labor Party in 1937. He served until his retirement in 1943. The electoral district of Gippsland South (initially known as South Gippsland) is a Lower House electoral district of the Victorian Parliament. It is located within the Eastern Victoria Region of the Legislative Council. Gippsland South extends along the state's coast from Venus Bay to Loch Sport and includes the country Victorian towns of Foster, Korumburra, Leongatha, Mirboo North, Port Albert, Port Welshpool, Rosedale, Sale and Yarram. Henry George Bodman (8 February 1864 – 2 November 1927) was an Australian politician. He was born near Won Wron to farmer Henry Bodman and Mary Ann Burnett. He became a farmer nearby, and was also an auctioneer at Bairnsdale. On 6 May 1890 he married Blanche Mabel Kate Smallman, with whom he had two children. He served on Alberton Shire Council from 1886 to 1891, 1896 to 1898 and from 1925 to 1927, with two periods as president from 1889 to 1891 and 1897 to 1898. Maurice Blackburn
Maurice McCrae Blackburn (19 November 1880 – 31 March 1944) was an Australian politician and socialist lawyer, noted for his protection of the interests of workers and the establishment of the legal firm known as Maurice Blackburn Lawyers. Biography Blackburn was born in Inglewood, Victoria, to Maurice Blackburn, a bank manager, and his wife Thomasann Cole (née McCrae), daughter of Captain Alexander McCrae. Following the death of his father in 1887, Blackburn and his mother moved to Melbourne where he was educated at Melbourne Grammar School, matriculating in 1896. He attended the University of Melbourne, graduating in arts and law in 1909, and began to practise as a lawyer a year later. In the same year, he also became a member of the Victorian Socialist Party and was soon editing its newspaper, ''The Socialist''. Later, in about 1908, he joined the Australian Labor Party.
