New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. From the creation of the assembly up to about 1990, the post-nominals "MLA" (Member of the Legislative Assembly) were used. Shooters, Fishers And Farmers Party
The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party (SFF) is an Australian political party. It primarily advocates for increased funding and services for rural and regional Australia, protecting the right to farm, enhancing commercial and recreational fishing, tougher sentencing for illegal firearm trade and usage, and relaxing gun control for law abiding citizens. The party was formed in 1992, and was known simply as the Shooters Party. It initially operated only in New South Wales, but has since expanded into other states. It was registered with the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) in 2007, and contested its first federal election the same year. In July 2009, the party changed its name to the Shooters and Fishers Party, and in April 2016, the name was changed to its current name. Liesl Tesch
Liesl Dorothy Tesch AM (born 17 May 1969) is an Australian wheelchair basketball player, sailor, and politician. She is a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly, representing Gosford since the 2017 Gosford state by-election. Tesch became an incomplete paraplegic after a mountain bike accident at the age of 19. She competed in her national wheelchair basketball team at five paralympics, winning three medals, and was the first woman to play the sport professionally. She took up sailing in 2010, winning gold medals at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics with partner Daniel Fitzgibbon. Early life Tesch was born in Brisbane on 17 May 1969. Kathy Smith (Australian Politician)
Kathleen Smith (1948/49 – 31 May 2017) was an Australian politician who served in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Gosford for the Labor Party from 2015 to 2017. Smith was previously the chairwoman of Cancer Voices NSW, and has worked with organisations including the Consumers Health Forum, Medicines Australia, and Cancer Institute of NSW. She was also a member of the Palmer United Party The United Australia Party (UAP), formerly known as Clive Palmer's United Australia Party and the Palmer United Party (PUP), is a currently deregistered Australian political party formed by mining magnate Clive Palmer in April 2013. Electoral District Of Gosford
Gosford is an electoral district of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly in Australia. The electorate covers the western parts of the City of Gosford, including central Gosford and Woy Woy. It is represented by Liesl Tesch of the Labor Party, elected at the 2017 by-election. The electorate was created in 1950. At the redistribution prior to the 2007 election much of the district of Gosford, then held by Chris Hartcher for the Liberal Party, became part of the district of Terrigal while Gosford absorbed most of the former district of Peats, then held by Marie Andrews for the Labor Party. Antony Green describes the redistribution as effectively being that Gosford was renamed Terrigal while Peats was renamed Gosford. James Henry Griffin is an Australian politician. Griffin has served as the New South Wales Minister for Environment and Heritage in the Perrottet ministry since December 2021. He is a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the electoral district of Manly for the Liberal Party. Michael Bruce Baird (born 1 April 1968) is an Australian investment banker and former politician who was the 44th Premier of New South Wales, the Minister for Infrastructure, the Minister for Western Sydney, and the Leader of the New South Wales Liberal Party from April 2014 to January 2017. Paul Scully is an Australian politician who has been a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 12 November 2016, representing the seat of Wollongong for the Labor Party, since the by-election to replace Noreen Hay.
