Melvins Albums
Melvins (sometimes The Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Initially, they performed as a trio but later also sometimes appeared as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. The band was named after a supervisor at a Thriftway in Montesano, where Osborne also worked as a clerk; "Melvin" was disliked by other employees, and the band's members felt it to be an appropriately ridiculous name. Crystal Fairy (band)
Crystal Fairy was an American rock supergroup from Los Angeles / El Paso, formed in 2016. The band consisted of Melvins' Buzz Osborne (guitar) and Dale Crover (drums), alongside Le Butcherettes' Teri Gender Bender (vocals) and Omar Rodríguez-López (bass) of At the Drive-In / The Mars Volta / Antemasque fame. History Osborne first saw Le Butcherettes open for his friend Jello Biafra. Excited by the performance, he told Crover that he wanted to tour with the band. Le Butcherettes opened for the Melvins on different occasions. The bands found common ground and their 2015 shows would typically end with Teri Gender Bender joining the Melvins onstage to perform covers of Pop-O-Pies' ''Fascists Eat Donuts'' and Bikini Kill's '' Rebel Girl''. Fecal Matter (band)
Fecal Matter was a short-lived punk rock band from Aberdeen, Washington. The group was formed in 1985 by Kurt Cobain, the future frontman of Nirvana, along with Dale Crover of the Melvins and drummer Greg Hokanson. Hokanson was removed from the band over his penchant for Schmidt beer (otherwise known as Animal beer) and mini thins or "witch speed", and his ensuing negative attitude. Melvins members Buzz Osborne (also known as "King Buzzo") and Mike Dillard appeared in a later version of the band during rehearsals the following year. Songs from the group's sole recording session were issued as the ''Illiteracy Will Prevail'' demo tape. Jello Biafra
Eric Reed Boucher (born June 17, 1958), known professionally as Jello Biafra, is an American singer, spoken word artist and politician. He is the former lead singer and songwriter for the San Francisco punk rock band Dead Kennedys. Initially active from 1979 to 1986, Dead Kennedys were known for rapid-fire music topped with Biafra's sardonic lyrics and biting social commentary, delivered in his "unique quiver of a voice". When the band broke up in 1986, he took over the influential independent record label Alternative Tentacles, which he had founded in 1979 with Dead Kennedys bandmate East Bay Ray. Lustmord
Brian Williams is a Welsh industrial musician, sound designer and film score composer. He is often credited for creating the dark ambient genre with albums recorded under the name Lustmord. His experimental work has been described as "not traditionally 'musical'" with "more clearly visual aspects". Biography Williams was raised in rural Wales, before relocating to London in his late teens. In London, Williams befriended Throbbing Gristle members Cosey Fanni Tutti and Chris Carter, who urged him to make his own music. He started recording as Lustmord in 1980 before joining SPK in 1982. Lustmord has extracted field recordings made in crypts, caves, and slaughterhouses, and combined it with occasional ritualistic incantations and Tibetan horns. Karp (band)
Karp was an American post-hardcore band from Tumwater, Washington, that formed in 1990 and lasted until 1998. The band was formed by Chris Smith a.k.a. Chris "Slayer", Jared Warren and Scott Jernigan. They released three full-length albums titled ''Mustaches Wild'', ''Suplex'', and ''Self Titled LP.'' They also released several EPs and 7-inch records. Karp mixed elements of hardcore punk and metal à la the Melvins with an ear for pop-influenced song assembly. The band name is inspired from a newsletter/zine that Smith put out in high school and is an acronym that stands for "Kill All Redneck Pricks". Their oft used logo of an eagle with spread wings was a modification on the defunct National Recovery Administration's "Blue Eagle" logo. Big Business is an American heavy metal band from Seattle, Washington, founded by bassist/vocalist Jared Warren (Karp) and drummer Coady Willis (The Murder City Devils). They have been based out of Los Angeles since 2006. Their music is characterized by a bombastic and frantic style, and for most of their existence Big Business has been a bass-drums duo. Cows were a noise rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota who formed in 1986 and disbanded in 1998. The band’s music mixed punk rock with surreal humour and copious amounts of noise played through distorted amplifiers and trumpet bleats, codifying them as a noise rock band. Throughout their career Cows released nine studio albums, all but one on the Minneapolis-based label Amphetamine Reptile Records. A star in honor of the Cows is on the outside mural of First Avenue. Thrones is the solo project of American bassist Joe Preston. Biography Thrones began in 1994 with an untitled cassette on the Punk in My Vitamins? label. He soon released the "Reddleman" single. In 1996, Thrones signed to Communion Records to issue the full-length album ''Alraune''. Thrones then signed to Kill Rock Stars and released the single "The Suckling". In late 1997, Preston began a recording project under the working title "White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit".
