The Crash (band)
The Crash was a pop rock band from Turku, Finland, originally influenced by Britpop but later taking its lead from a diverse range of genres including Motown, disco, new wave and 80's rock. The band formed after Teemu Brunila and Samuli Haataja met in 1991, with both Erkki Kaila and Dani Aavinen joining to complete the line up. Originally, the band was called Ladies & Gentlemen, but later changed its name to New Deal, then again changed it to The Crush. In 1998, the name was changed to The Crash and Dani Aavinen was replaced by keyboard player, Toni Ahola. History Their debut album, '' Comfort Deluxe'', was released on Warner Music Finland in 1999, and was followed by a tour of Europe including Sweden, Germany, and Austria, as well as a successful performance at the In The City festival in Manchester, England. Synthpop
Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. It was prefigured in the 1960s and early 1970s by the use of synthesizers in progressive rock, electronic, art rock, disco, and particularly the Krautrock of bands like Kraftwerk. It arose as a distinct genre in Japan and the United Kingdom in the post-punk era as part of the new wave movement of the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Selected Songs 1999–2005 is a compilation album by the Finnish pop rock band The Crash, released in October 2005. The album includes the most important and meaningful songs composed during 1999–2005, but also three brand new songs: "Johnny Ran Away with You", "Big Ass Love", "Thorn in My Side". There are two versions made of the album. One that includes only the CD, and one that offers also some DVD material; four music videos and an interview from 2003. Britpop
Britpop was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness. It produced brighter, catchier alternative rock, partly in reaction to the popularity of the darker lyrical themes of the US-led grunge music and to the UK's own shoegaze music scene. The movement brought British alternative rock into the mainstream and formed the backbone of a larger British popular cultural movement, Cool Britannia, which evoked the Swinging Sixties and the British guitar pop of that decade. Britpop was a media-driven focus on bands which emerged from the independent music scene of the early 1990s. Although the term was viewed as a marketing tool, and more of a cultural moment than a musical style or genre, its associated bands typically drew from the British pop music of the 1960s, glam rock and punk rock of the 1970s and indie pop of the 1980s. Teemu Brunila
Teemu William Brunila (born 24 November 1976, in Turku) is a Finnish singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Brunila became known as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the pop group The Crash. During their career, the band released four studio albums and one compilation album. Later career After The Crash disbanded, Brunila has concentrated on writing music for other Finnish artists, including Anna Abreu, Saara and Jenni Vartiainen. He has also written songs for British acts like Pixie Lott and JLS and American R&B artist Trey Songz. When a song "Never Again" was featured on Songz's album ''Chapter V'', Brunila became the first Finn to have co-written a song for an album at the top of the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart.
