Melodifestivalen 1966
Sweden competed in Eurovision Song Contest 1966 with the song "Nygammal vals" performed by Lill Lindfors and Svante Thuresson. It was written by Bengt-Arne Wallin and Björn Lindroth. Much thanks to Scandinavian neighbours, Sweden took their best placement so far in ESC this year, held in Luxembourg, with 16 points and a 2nd place. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1966 Melodifestivalen 1966 (known as the Svensk sångfinal) was the selection for the eighth song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest, held at the Cirkus in Stockholm on 29 January 1966. It was the seventh time that this system of picking a song had been used. 898 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. Regional juries selected the winning song. The final was held in the Cirkus in Stockholm on 29 January 1966, hosted by Sven Lindahl and was broadcast on Sveriges Radio TV but was not broadcast on radio. Lill Lindfors
Maj Lillemor "Lill" Lindfors (born 12 May 1940) is a Swedish singer who has performed in Scandinavia since the 1960s. Career She was born in Helsinki, Finland, and made her debut as a revue actress in Uddevalla in 1960. The following year she made her first recording. In the most recent decades, Lindfors has been known in Scandinavia for her "one-woman shows" in which she mixes music with a lot of comedy. She was one of the first artists who sang ''samba'' in Sweden, and she was also one of the first Swedish performers who did stand-up comedy in her shows. ;Eurovision Song Contest Lindfors's performance of " Nygammal Vals" ("New, yet familiar waltz") with Svante Thuresson took second place in the 1966 Eurovision Song Contest. Melodifestivalen (; literally "the Melody Festival") is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since 1959. Ann-Louise Hanson
Ann-Louise Hanson (born in Kristianstad in 1944) is a Swedish singer who has been involved in the music industry since 1956. In 1960, she had her first hit, "Är du ensam i kväll?", a Swedish version of Elvis Presley's ''Are you lonesome tonight?'' Many of her solo recordings from the 1960s feature Bruno Glenmarks Orkester and, following their marriage, Ann-Louise and Bruno Glenmark formed the group Glenmarks with Bruno's niece Karin and nephew Anders. Soon after, their own GlenDisc record label began producing vinyl, cassettes and eventually CDs under the banner of 'Hanson-Glenmark Production AB'. Ann-Louise holds the dubious honour of having entered the Swedish Melodifestivalen competition thirteen times without winning once, which is a record in itself. Britt Lindeborg
Britt Lindeborg (22 March 1928 – 5 August 1998) was a Swedish lyricist. She was born in Solna Municipality to Gunnar Karlsson and Elsa Sparring. Her greatest success was probably "Lyckliga gatan", a Swedish version of "Il ragazzo della via Gluck", performed by Anna-Lena Löfgren. She wrote the lyrics for "Judy, min vän", Swedish contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 1969, and she wrote the lyrics for "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley", winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1984. Lindeborg also wrote the Swedish lyrics for the Lynsey de Paul composed songs "Taste Me" ("Låt dina sinnen få smaka") and "My Man and Me "My Man and Me" is a song written, recorded and produced by the British female singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul for her second album, '' Taste Me... Lars Forssell
Lars Hans Carl Abraham Forssell (14 January 192826 July 2007) was a Swedish writer and member of the Swedish Academy. Forssell was a versatile writer who worked within many genres, including poetry, drama and songwriting. He was married from 1951 until his death to Kerstin Hane, and was the father of Jonas and Malte Forssell. Lars Forssell was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1928. He attended a local elementary school called Kungsholms Folkskola, which, at the beginning of the twentieth century, was the world's largest elementary school - the school had a capacity of 3,800 pupils, but since not all of them attended school every day, they were taught in shifts and according to the City Museum of Stockholm, the total number of enrolled pupils was over 6,000. Ulf Björlin
Mats Ulf Stefan Björlin (21 May 1933 – 23 October 1993) was a Swedish composer and conductor. Bjorlin was known for being one of the most active opera composers in the 20th century. Björlin was born in Stockholm in 1933. He studied music with conductor Igor Markevitch in Salzburg, Austria at age 19 and later continued his studies at the Conservatoire de Paris, with teacher Nadia Boulanger. After completing his military service, he worked at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and at the Malmö College of Music. From 1962, he was employed as musical producer at Sveriges Radio and wrote music for several movies and television productions, including the series of films and TV series about the children on the island Saltkråkan (Seacrow Island), based on Astrid Lindgren's scripts. Carli Tornehave (born 26 August 1932, in Stockholm), is a Swedish singer and actor. He has participated at Melodifestivalen six times; in 1962 he performed ''Anneli'' and ''När min vän'', in 1963 he performed ''Twist till menuett'' and ''En gång i Stockholm''. Jan Johansson (16 September 1931 – 9 November 1968) was a Swedish jazz pianist. His album '' Jazz på svenska'' (''Jazz in Swedish'') is the best selling jazz release ever in Sweden; it has sold over a quarter of a million copies and has been streamed more than 50 million times on Spotify. He was the father of former HammerFall drummer Anders Johansson and Stratovarius keyboardist Jens Johansson, who run Heptagon Records which keeps their father's recordings available.
