Melissourgoi () is a former community in the Arta regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Central Tzoumerka, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 35.510 km2, making it the smallest municipal unit in Central Tzoumerka. In 2011, it recorded a population of 419. Theodoriana
Theodoriana ( el, Θεοδώριανα) is a village and former community in the Arta regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform, it is part of the municipality, Central Tzoumerka, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 44.398 km2. In 2011 its population was 163 for the village and 173 for the community (including the village Skarpari). Northeast is the Trikala regional unit. The Pindos and the Athamanian mountains cross the northeastern part. The Acheloos river flows by the village along with the GR-30 (Arta - Trikala). The entire area of Theodoriana are mountains and pine trees along with forests dominate the whole municipality except for the upper parts and the valley areas where farmlands are located. Some of its residents live only during the summer months and leave during the winter months. Arta ( el, Περιφερειακή ενότητα Άρτας) is one of the regional units of Greece. It is part of the Epirus region. Its capital is the town of Arta. Geography The regional unit of Arta is located north of the Ambracian Gulf. The main mountain ranges are the Athamanika in the northeast, the Pindus in the east, and Valtou in the southeast. Only one mountain road links Arta with the Pineios valley and Thessaly. There are low-lying agricultural plains in the west. Arta borders on the regional units of Preveza in the west, Ioannina to the north, Trikala in the east, Karditsa to the east and Aetolia-Acarnania to the south. The ''Government Gazette'' ( el, Εφημερίς της Κυβερνήσεως, translit=Efimeris tis Kyverniseos, translit-std=ISO, lit=Government Gazette) is the official journal of the Government of Greece which lists all laws passed in a set time period ratified by Cabinet and President. Agnanta
Agnanta ( el, Άγναντα) is a village and a former municipality in the Arta regional unit, Epirus, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Central Tzoumerka, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 124.344 km2. Agnanta is one of the largest villages of the Tzoumerka region. The population of the municipal unit is 1,800 (2011). It is located at a distance of 55 km north of the city of Arta and east of the city of Ioannina. The geographical center of the village has an altitude of 650–700 m, while some of its highest districts approach an altitude of 1000 m. Dimitris Tsovolas
Dimitris Tsovolas ( el, Δημήτριος Τσοβόλας; 4 September 1942 – 25 February 2022) was a Greek politician who served as Minister of Finance from 1985 to 1989. Early life and education Tsovolas was born at Melissourgoi, a village outside Arta, Epirus in 1942. He went on to study law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He worked as a lawyer in Arta. Political career Tsovolas later began his career in politics as a member of PASOK. He was first elected member of the Parliament representing Arta in 1977. He was reelected in 1981 and 1985. He was then elected as an MP for northern Athens. Tsovolas served in the Ministry of Finance in Andreas Papandreou's government from 1981 to 1989, serving as a deputy minister from 1981 to 1985, and as the full Minister of Finance from 1985 to 1989. Ioannis Banias
Ioannis (Yannis) Banias ( el, Γιάννης Μπανιάς) (27 September 1939 – 29 March 2012) was a Greek politician, and former member of the Hellenic Parliament for the Coalition of Radical Left (2007–2009). Banias was born in Melissourgoi, Arta. He was a member of the Communist Party of Greece from the beginning of 1960s until its split in 1968 when he continued his activities in the Communist Party of Greece (Interior). He was elected president of the latter in 1982. He later participated in the formation of the Renewing Communist Ecological Left and was elected as the president of that group. He died in Athens on 28 March 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
