Melis Abzalov
Melis Abzalov ( uz, Melis Abzalov, Мелис Абзалов; russian: Мелис Абзалов; November 18, 1938 – October 26, 2016) was an Uzbek people, Uzbek actor, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. His most famous films include ''Suyunchi'' (1982), ''Kelinlar qoʻzgʻoloni (film), Kelinlar qoʻzgʻoloni'' (1984), ''Armon (film), Armon'' (1986), and ''Oʻtgan kunlar (film), Oʻtgan kunlar'' (1997). Abzalov is celebrated as one of the founders and prominent members of the Uzbek film making industry. During his lifetime, he received many honorary titles and awards, including the title Meritorious Artist of Uzbekistan (1987). Life and work Melis Oripovich Abzalov was born on November 18, 1938, in Yangiyul, then the Uzbek SSR. Roger Melis (20 October 1940 – 11 September 2009) was a German photographer specialising in portraiture, photo-journalism and fashion photography. Life Early years Roger Melis was born during the early part of the war. His father was the sculptor Fritz Melis. Melis grew up in the household of his stepfather, the poet Peter Huchel, initially in western Berlin and from 1952 in Wilhelmshorst near Potsdam which had ended the war in the Soviet occupation zone of what remained of Germany, and was by now part of the newly created German Democratic Republic (GDR or East Germany). Between 1957 and 1960 he undertook an apprenticeship in photography, which was followed by six months working at sea. Gabriëlla Maria "Manon" Melis (; born 31 August 1986) is a Dutch football coach and former player who is a manager of women's football development at Feyenoord. As a professional player she played as a forward. She spent most of her professional career playing in the Swedish league Damallsvenskan, which she won three times with her club LdB FC Malmö, in 2010, 2011, and 2013. Melis also won the Swedish Supercup with Malmö in 2011, and was briefly with the Swedish teams Linköping and Göteborg. She was the Damallsvenskan top scorer three times, in 2008, 2010, and 2011. László Melis (14 August 1953 – 12 February 2018) was a Hungarian composer and violinist. He writes primarily in the minimal style and his compositions are often characterized by a propulsive, bouncy quality. Melis was a founding member of the Hungarian new music group Group 180, which during its existence (1978–1990) performed and recorded five of his compositions. Melis has composed music for film, winning the Award for Best Music for his work in the animated pieces, ''A szél'' ("The Wind") and ''Gyurmatek'' ("Clay Play") at the 2nd Kecskemét Animation Film Festival. Karin Melis Mey, née Karin Mey, (born 31 May 1983) is a South African-born Turkish female long jumper. She became a naturalised Turkish citizen in June 2008, and took the name Melis in addition to her birth name Karin Mey. The tall athlete at is a member of Fenerbahçe Athletics team, where she is coached by Charley Strohmenger. Representing South Africa, one of her first international appearances was a sixth-place finish at the 2005 Summer Universiade. José Melis Guiu (February 27, 1920 – April 7, 2005) was a Cuban-American bandleader and television personality. Biography Melis was born in Havana, Cuba. He studied at the Havana Conservatory of Music and a Cuban government scholarship enabled him to continue his education in Paris. When he was 16, he arrived in the United States, graduated from the Juilliard School of Music and worked as a lounge pianist. During World War II, while he was serving as the musical director for the USO's New York City branch of the USO, he met Jack Paar, and the two remained friends for years. Giovanni Melis Fois (October 7, 1916 – September 3, 2009) was an Italian Prelate of Roman Catholic Church. Fois was born in Sorgono, Italy and ordained a priest on August 13, 1939 from the Archidocese of Oristano.
