Melquer Vencent García Howland (born 18 June 1992) is a Honduran athlete competing in the sprinting events. Family García Howland was born on 18 June 1992 in New York, United States. His father, Melvin Lorenzo, is originally from Puerto Cortés, Honduras and his mother, Barbara Lynetta from South Carolina, United States. Career Early years He became a member of the track and field team at Watervliet High School. During his high school years he suffered an ACL tear in his right leg playing American football removing him from sports which many say is a career ending injury. He returned later that year for the outdoor Track & Field season. Between 2012 and 2015 he represented the Cortland Red Dragons. He qualified these years for multiple events at the NCAA Division III men's indoor track and field championships and finished second in the 200 metres event in 2015. The men's 100 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 15 and 16 July 2022. 76 athletes from 53 nations entered to the competition. Summary The defending champion Christian Coleman got his customary fast start, with Marvin Bracy, Abdul Hakim Sani Brown and Aaron Brown all out fast on the opposite side of the track. By 40 metres Bracy and Coleman were clear leaders with Fred Kerley just an arm's length back. Over the next 20 metres, Bracy separated to a full metre over Kerley as Coleman was straining. Next to last out of the blocks, Trayvon Bromell came back to pass Coleman with 30 metres to go as all four American sprinters occupied the top places with Bromell about even with Kerley and Bracy clearly ahead. 2022 World Athletics Championships
The 2022 World Athletics Championships was the eighteenth edition of the World Athletics Championships. It was held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15–24, 2022, with the country hosting that competition for the first time. The competition was originally scheduled for August 6–15, 2021, but it was postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, World Athletics banned all Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from participating at the championships. In addition, the stringent vaccination requirements for people entering the United States caused visa delays for participants and officials, with some ultimately being unable to enter the country. The 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships () was the seventeenth edition of the biennial, global athletics competition organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), since renamed World Athletics.
