Melbourne Bus Link was an Australian bus and coach operator in Melbourne. It was a Buses in Melbourne, Melbourne bus company that operated nine List of Melbourne bus routes, bus routes under contract to the Public Transport Victoria. Melbourne Bus Link ceased operations on 3 August 2013. History In April 1998 a consortium owned by Dysons and Reservoir Bus Company commenced operating a contract to operate the remaining bus services of Public Transport Corporation, Met Bus in the western and south-east regions of Melbourne. Included were depots at Footscray, Victoria, Footscray and Sandringham, Victoria, Sandringham and 86 MAN SL200 buses. In November 2012, Dysons bought out Reservoir Bus Company and fully owned Melbourne Bus Link. In April 2013, Transdev Melbourne were announced as the preferred tenderer to operate the Melbourne Metropolitan Bus Franchise, which included the services operated by Melbourne Bus Link. Volgren
Volgren is an Australian bus and coach body manufacturer. History Volvo Buses, VolGrenda Corporation, gren was formed in 1977 by Melbourne bus operator Grenda Corporation in Dandenong, Victoria. Because Grenda held the Volvo Buses dealership in Victoria, only chassis from this manufacturer were bodied until 1989 when the dealership was relinquished. The name is a portmanteau of the two original investors, Volvo Buses, Volvo and Grenda Corporation, Grenda. In 1981 a plant was established in Acacia Ridge, Queensland by Grenda Corporation, Hornibrook Bus Lines's Geoff Mountjoy, Greyhound Australia, Greyhound Northern and Stateliner. The Public Transport Corporation (PTC) was a Victoria State Government owned statutory authority formed under the Transport Act 1983 which operated passenger and freight trains, trams and bus services. The PTC was also responsible for directly operating some bus services and procuring bus services from private operators.
