Mel Thorsen (1908-1971) was an American film editor active primarily in the 1930s and 1940s. Biography Mel was born in Los Angeles, California, to Michael Thorsen and Agnes Frautzen, both of whom were from Norway. He married June Waddell in 1932, and the pair had a son. Sword Of The Avenger
''Sword of the Avenger'' is a 1948 American adventure film directed by Sidney Salkow and starring Ramon del Gado, Sigrid Gurie, and Ralph Morgan. Plot The setting of the film is the Philippines in 1827, while it was under Spanish rule. Roberto Balagtas (Delgado) is falsely arrested for treason and sent to prison where he is tortured. He escapes with other prisoners, but only Batagtas survives the escape, carrying with him a treasure map left by one of the others. He crosses paths with Ming Tang (Strong) and a group of Chinese smugglers, with whom he finds the treasure. The booty makes him extremely wealthy, and he changes his name to Don Diego Sebastian. He then goes back to the Philippines to seek his revenge. West Of Tombstone
''West of Tombstone'' is an American Western B-movie film directed by Howard Bretherton and starring Charles Starrett. Plot Marshal Steve Langdon hears a rumor that the legendary criminal Billy the Kid is maybe still alive. Langdon finds Billy's coffin empty and believes that the respected older citizen Wilfred Barnet is Billy the Kid. He informs Wilfred’s lovely daughter Carol about. When Barnet confesses his true identity to his daughter and says that he got a second chance by Pat Garrett to start a new life. His clerk overhears the conversation and informs his old gang and this leads to trouble. Barnet helps Marshal Langdon against the gang. They defeat the gang but Barnet is mortally wounded. Based on the novel of the same name by James Lyon Rubel, the film stars Charles Starrett, Terry Walker, Ben Taggart, Wheeler Oakman, and the Simp-Phonies in a cameo appearance. It was directed by Lambert Hillyer and written by Wyndham Gittens and Winston Miller. In the film, Starrett's character, Dr. Steven Monroe, travels to a tumultuous Painted Springs and attempts to resolve a raging conflict between two camps – the cattlemen and the sheep ranchers.
