Adrian Meikle
Adrian Meikle (born 17 March 1965) is a Welsh curler and member of the Wales Men's Curling Team that takes part in the European Curling Championships. He is also a member of the Welsh Mixed Doubles and Senior Team. He played in one World Curling Championships, in as a second for Wales. He won a gold medal at the 2007 European Mixed Curling Championship as a skip. The Lammermuirs are a range of hills in southern Scotland, forming a natural boundary between East Lothian and the Borders. The name "Lammermuir" comes from the Old English ''lambra mōr'', meaning "moorland of the lambs". Geology The Lammermuir Hills are formed from a succession of Silurian and Ordovician age marine sediments known as greywackes together with siltstones, shales and mudstones. They are assigned to the Gala Group. Unconformably overlying these highly faulted and folded strata are outcrops of the early Devonian age Great Conglomerate Formation which forms a part of the Reston Group of Old Red Sandstone rocks. These coarse red-purple conglomerates underlie a band of country in the east between Longformacus and Oldhamstocks and also occur in an isolated outcrop east of Soutra Hill and beneath the Dun Law Wind Farm on the western margin of the hills. Meikle Loch is an inland loch some miles north of Collieston, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is designated as part of the Ythan Estuary complex, along with the Sands of Forvie, as a Special Protection Area for wildlife conservation purposes. Meikle is a Scots word for large/big, which the loch is when compared to the adjacent Little Loch. It is a eutrophic loch with limited aquatic vegetation but is important as the home to overwintering pink-footed geese. Meikle Carewe Hill is a landform in Aberdeenshire, Scotland within the Mounth Range of the Grampian Mountains. (Grid Reference NO 921 828) The peak elevation of this mountain is 266 metres above mean sea level. Meikle Carewe is a prominent landform visible from a number of coastal hills such as Kempstone Hill and Megray Hill; it also forms a major backdrop to the community of Netherley. Meikle Bin
Meikle Bin is a peak in the Campsie Fells in Central Scotland. It is the second-highest of the group at , and with its prominence of it is classified as a Marilyn. The hill is a prominent local landmark for the people of the towns surrounding the Campsie Fells. It was the site of a fatal accident in January 1950, when a Fairey Firefly of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm crashed just below the summit in low cloud while en route to HMS Sanderling Naval Air Station. Both crewmen were killed on impact. Wreckage can be seen on the north and west slopes. On a clear day, Scotland's iconic east coast and west coast rock islands, Bass Rock and Ailsa Craig respectively, can be seen from the summit, a range of almost 120 miles. Meikle Auchengree
Meikle Auchengree is a hamlet near Kilbirnie and Longbar in North Ayrshire, Scotland. History Meikle Auchengree is east of Glengarnock in Dalry parish. The hamlet is situated at the north end of the Auchengree Road which runs between the B777 and the A737 roads. The settlement is today a mixture of farms, small-holdings and residential properties. Its most distinctive building is that of the former Auchengree Engine Works, a mid Victorian factory building on the eastern side of the Auchengree Road. The Auchengree Farm has a farm shop selling local produce, the only shop in the hamlet. A community hall is shared with the neighbouring hamlet of Longbar situated near the junction with the B777, at the Auchengree Bridge.
