Mehamn Airport
Mehamn Airport ( no, Mehamn lufthavn; ) is a regional airport serving the village of Mehamn in Gamvik Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It also serves the villages Kjøllefjord and Gamvik. The airport is outside of the village of Mehamn and is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor. The tower is remotely controlled from Bodø. The asphalt runway is . Services are operated by Widerøe using Dash 8-100 aircraft which connect to other communities in Finnmark, and the city of Tromsø. The routes are subsidized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications through public service obligations. Both the villages of Gamvik and Kjøllefjord were considered as alternative locations for the airport, and both received smaller airfields before Mehamn Airport opened in 1974. Svalbard ( , ), also known as Spitsbergen, or Spitzbergen, is a Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. Berlevåg Airport ( no, Berlevåg lufthavn; ) is a regional airport serving Berlevåg Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The airport is situated northwest of the village of Berlevåg and is owned and operated by Avinor. The airport tower is operated remotely from Bodø. The airport has a runway aligned 06/24. Services are provided by Widerøe using Dash 8-100 aircraft to other communities in Finnmark. The airport served 5,921 passengers in the terminal (in 2016) and received the most subsidies per passenger of any Avinor airport. A further 8,948 landed and started at the airport without leaving the aircraft. Hammerfest Airport ( no, Hammerfest lufthavn; ) is a regional airport at Prærien in Hammerfest, Norway. It is operated by the state-owned Avinor and handled 145,396 passengers in 2014, making it the third-busiest regional airport in the country. The airport has a runway aligned 05/23. Kjøllefjord Airfield ( no, Kjøllefjord flyplass) is a disused general aviation airport (airfield) located at Kjøllefjord in Lebesby, Norway. It consisted of a gravel runway and a simple small building as a terminal. Plans for an airport in Kjøllefjord were first launched in the mid-1960s. The Norving airline was the main proponent as they intended to operate an air taxi and air ambulance service. Construction started in 1973 and the airport opened in 1974. In that same year, another nearby airport opened; the larger Mehamn Airport is only 30 kilometers away and Kjøllefjord therefore was little used. It was abandoned in the 1980s. Gamvik Airport ( no, Gamvik flyplass) is a disused general aviation airport located at Slettnes outside the village of Gamvik in Gamvik, Norway. As Finnmark had lowest priority on the state-financed construction of regional airports, Norving took initiative to start construction of smaller and simpler airfields in select communities, including Gamvik. Norwegian Red Cross Search And Rescue Corps
The Norwegian Red Cross Search and Rescue Corps (NRKH) was created in 1932 as a support for civil society in the event of war, and particularly with gas attacks in other cities. Today, there are over 300 local Search and Rescue Corps with over 12,000 members, where all members are qualified first aiders. The Search and Rescue Corps's main task is to assist police in search and rescue operations especially during disasters. In addition, the corps gives medical manpower to various events in the community, doing first aid instruction, and in some locations, ambulance services. All efforts from the membership are voluntary. The equipment used is also paid for with funds collected through volunteer efforts.
