Megunticook River
The Megunticook River is a short river in Camden, Maine. From the spillway of Megunticook Lake (), the river runs U.S. Geological Survey. National Hydrography Dataset high-resolution flowline dataThe National Map, accessed June 22, 2011 southeast through the town to West Penobscot Bay. The upper part of the river has raised water levels due to the Seabright dam. Below the dam the river runs as a mill stream into Camden village. In 2016 the Camden select board was alerted to low water levels above Seabright. It is considering grouting cracks in the rocks supporting the dam to address the problem. West Penobscot Bay
Penobscot Bay (french: Baie de Penobscot) is an inlet of the Gulf of Maine and Atlantic Ocean in south central Maine. The bay originates from the mouth of Maine's Penobscot River, downriver from Belfast. Penobscot Bay has many working waterfronts including Rockland, Rockport, and Stonington, and Belfast upriver. Penobscot Bay is between Muscongus Bay and Blue Hill Bay, just west of Acadia National Park. 11,000 years ago, at the beginning of the Holocene epoch, the Gulf of Maine's sea level fell as low as 180 feet (55 m) below its present height. Camden, Maine
Camden is a resort town in Knox County, Maine. The population was 5,232 at the 2020 census. The population of the town more than triples during the summer months, due to tourists and summer residents. Camden is a summer colony in the Mid-Coast region of Maine. Megunticook Lake is a body of water in Knox County, Maine. Parts of the lake are located in the towns of Camden, Hope and Lincolnville. Covering , it is the largest lake by both area and volume in Knox County. Megunticook Lake is very picturesque with the towering cliffs of Mount Megunticook rising from the east shore.
