Meghnath
Meghnath is a filmmaker and activist working in Jharkhand for the last 40 years. He has been with the people’s struggle against destructive development. As a filmmaker, he has tried to document the voice of those sections of people who remain unheard. Meghnath was awarded the prestigious 59th National Film Awards and 65th National Film Awards. Introduction Meghnath was born on 29 June 1953 in Bombay of Bombay State (now Mumbai of Maharashtra). He did his schooling in Bombay and started social work from 1971 in the refugee camps of Bangladesh Liberation War. He started rural development work in National Service Scheme (NSS) under the guidance of Fr Gerard Beckers and worked as a volunteer for students health home, a co-operative health movement of the students with 3 lakhs members. Biju Toppo
Biju Toppo is an anthropological and national award-winning tribal documentary filmmaker from Ranchi, Jharkhand. He uses film as a medium for social activism on behalf of marginalized indigenous communities, and teaches video production at St. Xaviers College, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. He belongs to the ethnic group Kurukh of India. Ram Dayal Munda
Ram Dayal Munda (23 August 1939 – 30 September 2011), known as R. D. Munda, was an Indian scholar and regional music exponent. He was awarded the Padma Shri of the year 2010 for his contribution to the field of art. He was a vice-chancellor of Ranchi University and a member of the upper house of the Indian Parliament. In 2007, he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He died in Ranchi on 30 September 2011. Sunderlal Bahuguna
Sunderlal Bahuguna Ji (9 January 1927 – 21 May 2021) was an Indian environmentalist and Chipko movement leader. The idea of the Chipko movement was suggested by his wife and him. He fought for the preservation of forests in the Himalayas, first as a member of the Chipko movement in the 1970s, and later spearheaded the anti-Tehri Dam movement from the 1980s to early 2004. He was one of the early environmentalists of India, and later he and others associated with the Chipko movement and started taking up wider environmental issues, such as being opposed to large dams. Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as Baba Amte, (26 December 1914 – 9 February 2008) was an Indian social worker and social activist known particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and empowerment of people suffering from leprosy. Satish Bahadur (26 November 1925 – 23 July 2010), was an Indian film critic who served as Professor of Film Appreciation (1963–83) at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, India, and a close associate of Marie Seton, Vijaya Mulay and PK Nair. Suhasini Mulay (born 20 November 1950) is an Indian actress in Assamese, Bollywood and Marathi films as well as television. She won National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1999, for her performance in Gulzar's film ''Hu Tu Tu''.
