Meghan Schnur
Meghan Elisabeth Schnur (born April 16, 1985) is a retired American soccer midfielder, who played for Sky Blue FC of Women's Professional Soccer, and was a member of the United States U-23 women's national soccer team. Schnur is an alumnus of Butler Senior High School. Career Schnur played college soccer at the University of Connecticut from 2003 until 2007, and was a First Team All-Big East selection each year. In 2007, she was named an NSCAA All-American, and was a two-time Big East Midfielder of the Year. In 2009, Schnur was selected in the second round (11th overall) in the inaugural Women's Professional Soccer draft by Sky Blue FC, later winning the first league title. After knee surgery in 2011, Schnur retired from professional soccer to pursue a career as a physical therapist. The University of Connecticut (UConn) is a public land-grant research university in Storrs, Connecticut, a village in the town of Mansfield. Butler Senior High School
Butler Area Senior High School is a coeducational public senior high school in Butler, Pennsylvania, United States, serving grades 10–12. It is the senior high school for the Butler Area School District. The school was founded in 1908, moved to a larger building on an adjacent site in 1917, and moved again to its current site in 1960. History Butler Senior High School was originally opened in a yellow-brick building on a site bounded by McKean, East North, Cliff, and New Castle Streets in central Butler. In 1917 it moved to a three-story red-brick building across Cliff Street, the original building becoming the junior high school. In 1937 it was named John A. The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) is an interscholastic athletic association in Western Pennsylvania. It is District 7 of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association. History The Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) was founded in 1907 by a group of educators from four public and private Pittsburgh schools who sought increased regulation and governance of student athletic eligibility and interscholastic athletic competition. 2009 Women's Professional Soccer Playoffs
The 2009 WPS Playoffs were the postseason to Women's Professional Soccer's 2009 Season, that started on August 15 and culminated on August 22 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. Format The top four WPS teams, based on their regular season finishes, qualified for the playoffs. In the First Round, the third-ranked team hosted the fourth-ranked team. The winner of that match advances to the Super Semifinal, where they traveled to the second-ranked team. Finally, the regular season first-ranked team hosted the winner of the Super Semifinal in the WPS Championship match. This format, fairly unusual in the American sports landscape, preserves the knockout-style postseason most American sports fans are familiar with, while also highly favoring the regular season first-ranked team.
