Megan Jones (rider)
Megan Jones (born 6 November 1976) is one of Australia's top event riders, a Silver Medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Jones began riding at the age of 5, continued through her early years in Pony Club before hitting the international scene in 2003 at the World Cup Final. In 2005, she won Melbourne International Three Day Event riding three star on Kirby Park Irish Jester, then later in the same year won the four star at the 2005 Adelaide Horse Trials on the same mount and a second in the two star competition on another. Equestrian At The Summer Olympics
Equestrian sports were first included in the Olympic Games in the Equestrian at the 1900 Summer Olympics, Summer Olympics of 1900 in Paris. They were again included in 1912, and have been included in every subsequent edition of the Games. The Olympic equestrian disciplines are dressage, eventing, and show-jumping. In each discipline, both individual and team medals are awarded. Women and men compete on equal terms. Together with the equestrian component of Modern Pentathlon, it is the only Olympic event that involves animals. The horses are considered to be athletes as much as the riders. Shane Rose
Shane Rose (born 24 April 1973 in Sydney) is a three-time Olympic medallst. He started riding at the age of five at the Forest Hills Pony Club. Rose lived with his parents and three siblings in Duffys Forest, New South Wales. He was educated at Newington College Preparatory School, Lindfield (1978–83), and Pittwater House. Rose's love for horses continued to grow, and at 21 years of age he represented Australia in the Young Rider Trans-Tasman competition with Mr Joe Cool. As a 23 year old he was selected to represent Australia in Eventing at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. However, his horse went lame upon arrival in the US preventing him from competing. The Australian team went on to win gold. Lucinda Fredericks
Lucinda Fredericks (née Murray; born 28 September 1965) is an equestrian athlete who competes in eventing. Having formerly competed for Great Britain, she now represents Australia. Riding Headley Britannia, she has won three CCI 4* events; winning Burghley in 2006, Badminton in 2007 and Rolex Kentucky in 2009. She won an Olympic silver medal in the team event at Beijing 2008, and also competed at the 2012 London Olympics. Personal life Fredericks began competing for Australia after her marriage to Australian eventer Clayton Fredericks. The couple have a daughter, and divorced in 2014. Fredericks lives in Wiltshire.
