Megan Hickey
The Last Town Chorus is a Pop music, pop/Rock music, rock/alternative country band from Brooklyn, New York. Founded in 2001, the only consistent member of the band is singer/lap steel guitarist Megan Hickey, who performs with a variety of backup ensembles. Originally a duo, guitarist Nat Guy left the band after the release of its first album. The Last Town Chorus has toured in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, collecting praise from ''Spin (magazine), Spin'', ''The New York Times'', ''Chicago Tribune'' and ''The Village Voice'' in the US, and ''Uncut (magazine), Uncut'' and ''The Sunday Times'' in the UK. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Modern Love (song)
"Modern Love" is a song written by English singer-songwriter David Bowie. It was released as the opening track on his 1983 album '' Let's Dance'' and issued as the third single from the album later in the year. Co-produced by Bowie and Nile Rodgers of the American band Chic, it is a rock song that contains elements of new wave music. It was recorded at the Power Station in Manhattan and was one of the first tracks recorded for the album. It was performed by Bowie on the Serious Moonlight Tour, where it often closed the shows. It contains the band's most well known track, a cover of David Bowie's " Modern Love", also featured in a season two episode of '' Grey's Anatomy''. The Weakerthans are an award-winning and Juno-nominated Canadian indie rock band from Winnipeg. The band, led by John K. Samson, has released four studio albums and is currently inactive. History The band was formed in 1997 in Winnipeg, Manitoba by John K. Samson, after he left the punk band Propagandhi to start a publishing company. Samson joined bassist John P. Sutton and drummer Jason Tait of Red Fisher, another band from Winnipeg's punk scene, and created The Weakerthans as a vehicle for a more melodic and introspective brand of songwriting than their previous projects. Guillemots (stylized as gUiLLeMoTs) were a British indie rock band formed in November 2004. The band consisted of three members: Fyfe Dangerfield, Aristazabal Hawkes, and Greig Stewart. MC Lord Magrão, a former member, left the band in June 2013. The band is based in London, with its members coming from England, Scotland, Brazil and Canada. The Jayhawks are an American alternative country and country rock band that emerged from the Twin Cities music scene in the mid-1980s. Mark Olson (born September 18, 1961 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American musician and singer-songwriter. He was a founding member of alternative country bands The Jayhawks and the Original Harmony Ridge Creekdippers. Career Olson formed the Jayhawks in 1985 with singer and guitarist Gary Louris and was originally the principal singer-songwriter in the group. Their first album for Def American was the Drakoulias-produced ''Hollywood Town Hall'' in 1992. After a successful single, "Waiting for the Sun", and extensive touring the band went back in the studio and released the follow-up, ''Tomorrow the Green Grass'' in 1995, which yielded the radio hit "Blue".
