Meerwind Offshore Wind Farm
Meerwind Süd , Ost is an offshore wind farm in the German part of the North Sea. It is located 23 km off the coast of Helgoland. The wind farm lies south of the Nordsee Ost wind farm. The wind farm consists of 80 Siemens wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6 MW each, giving the farm a total capacity of 288 MW. Construction of the wind farm started in September 2012. The wind farm was completed at the end of 2014. Heligoland
Heligoland (; german: Helgoland, ; Heligolandic Frisian: , , Mooring Frisian: , da, Helgoland) is a small archipelago in the North Sea. A part of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein since 1890, the islands were historically possessions of Denmark, then became the possessions of the United Kingdom from 1807 to 1890, and briefly managed as a war prize from 1945 to 1952. The islands are located in the Heligoland Bight (part of the German Bight) in the southeastern corner of the North Sea and had a population of 1,127 at the end of 2016. They are the only German islands not in the vicinity of the mainland. They lie approximately by sea from Cuxhaven at the mouth of the River Elbe. Nordsee-Ost Offshore Wind Farm
Nordsee-Ost offshore wind farm is an offshore wind farm in operation in the eastern part of the North Sea German sector. The project was developed by RWE Innogy, a subsidiary of RWE. The wind farm consists of 48 turbines with a total capacity of 295 MW. The 6.15 MW turbines were provided by REpower. Steel foundations for generators were supplied by Aker Verdal. Power converters were supplied by Woodward Governor Company. A consortium of Siemens and Prysmian built the high-voltage direct current submarine cable from the wind farm to the German transmission system operated by Transpower, a subsidiary of TenneT. Delays in power line construction by Dutch TenneT delayed its operational start. On 11 May 2015 the wind farm was officially put into operation.
