Media Watch International is a media monitoring organization founded by Sharon Tzur and based in New York City. It describes itself as "an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to advancing Israel's image by promoting accurate, impartial media coverage of, and providing timely, factual information about, Israel and the Middle East." Programs Honest Reporting Sharon Tzur previously ran Honest Reporting, a media monitoring organization based in the UK. Media Watch International was created with seed money from the Jerusalem Fund of Aish HaTorah to absorb HonestReporting. MWI's Honest Reporting program is described by the Jewish Agency for Israel as focusing on "guiding the reader into productive activism" and that it is "Pro-Israel" but "does not take a particular Israeli political position. Engage is a British website, and briefly an online journal (from 2006–07), that aims to help people counter the boycott Israel campaign. Engage describes its mission as to "challenge left and liberal antisemitism in the labour movement, in our universities and in public life." The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA) is an American non-profit pro-Israel media-monitoring, research and membership organization. Media monitoring is the activity of monitoring the output of the print, online and broadcast media. It is based on analyzing a diverse range of media platforms in order to identify trends that can be used for a variety of reasons such as political, commercial and scientific purposes. It can be conducted in a systematic way by comparing the content presented in the media with external sources, in an attempt of fact-checking, or in a less formal and time demanding manner by independent groups and media critics that aim to check the quality of what is available on the media, especially related to press freedom and focusing on the concept of responsibilizing the media organizations.
