Christoph Johann Von Medem
Count Christoph Johann Friedrich von Medem (''Jeannot Medem''; 1763 – 1838) was a nobleman from Courland and courtier in the courts of Prussian kings Frederick the Great, Frederick William II and Emperor of Russia Paul I. His sisters were poet Elisa von der Recke and last Duchess of Courland, Dorothea von Medem. Early life Christoph Johan von Medem was born in the Mežotne manor, Semigallia on 13 August 1763. He was the son of a well known landlord and Reichsgraf Johann Friedrich von Medem and his second wife Luise Charlotte von Manteuffel. He had a good education and with help from his father he became a courtier in the court of the Friedrich the Great. Career Christoph Johann von Medem also served in Prussian army. After Frederick the Great death in 1786 he became aide of his son Frederick William II of Prussia. Dorothea Von Medem
Countess Anna Charlotte Dorothea von Medem (3 February 1761 – 20 August 1821) was born a Gräfin (Countess) of the noble German Baltic Medem family and later became Duchess of Courland. Popularly known as Dorothea of Courland after her marriage to Peter von Biron, the last Duke of Courland, she hosted an aristocratic salon in Berlin and performed various diplomatic duties on behalf of her estranged husband. She would spend the rest of her life in her estate in Löbichgau, where she would invite and host many important political and cultural figures of the time and make many acquaintances, ranging from Goethe over Napoleon I of France to Talleyrand, the latter of whom she was reportedly very close. Julio Medem Lafont (born 21 October 1958) is a Basque film director, producer, editor, and screenwriter. Biography Medem was born on 21 October 1958 in San Sebastián, Basque Country, Spain and showed an interest in movies since childhood, when he would take his father's Super 8 camera and shoot at night, while nobody was paying attention. After college graduation (where he earned degrees in Medicine and General Surgery) he worked as a film critic and later as a screenwriter, assistant director and editor. After a few shorts he directed his first full-length feature, ''Vacas'' ('Cows') for which he won a Goya Award. After this film he directed ''The Red Squirrel'' and ''Earth'', both receiving good reviews at Cannes. Rudolph von Medem (c. 1846 – unknown) was a German-born American soldier in the U.S. Army who served with the 5th U.S. Cavalry during the Indian Wars. Stephan Medem
Stephan Medem (born 2 April 1960) is a former professional tennis player from Switzerland. Career Medem, the 1974 Swiss Junior Champion, played college tennis in the United States, for Tyler Junior College in the NJCAA. He was an All-American in 1984. He took part in the main draw of the singles, men's doubles and mixed doubles at the 1986 French Open, but didn't make it past the first round in any of them. In the singles he was beaten in straight sets by Frenchman Jean-Philippe Fleurian. Medem teamed up with Finland's Olli Rahnasto to reach the second round of the men's doubles at the 1988 Wimbledon Championships, with a five set opening round win. It would be Medem's only win at a Grand Slam tournament.
