The Académie des lettres du Québec is a national academy for Quebec writers. It was founded as the Académie canadienne-française in 1944 by Victor Barbeau and a group of writers. In 1992 it changed its name to the Académie des lettres du Québec. It brings together writers and intellectuals of all disciplines. It can have up to 42 members. Gaston Miron
Gaston Miron (; 8 January 1928 – 14 December 1996) was an important poet, writer, and editor of Quebec's Quiet Revolution. His classic ''L'homme rapaillé'' (partly translated as ''The March to Love: Selected Poems of Gaston Miron'', whose title echoes his celebrated poem La marche à l'amour) has sold over 100,000 copies and is one of the most widely read texts of the Quebecois literary canon. Committed to his people's separation from Canada and to the establishment of an independent French-speaking nation in North America, Gaston Miron remains the most important literary figure of Quebec's nationalist movement. Jacques Lacoursière
Jacques Lacoursière, (4 May 1932 – 1 June 2021) was a Canadian TV host, author and historian. Life and career Lacoursière was born in Shawinigan, in the Mauricie region, and then resided in Beauport in the Greater Quebec area. Lacoursière held an M.A. degree in history from the University of Ottawa. Renowned not only for his talents as a researcher, but also for his ability to communicate and make history accessible to a larger audience, he worked with film director Gilles Carle. Together they produced the TV series ''Épopée en Amérique : une histoire populaire du Québec'' which Lacoursière hosted in 1997. He died on 1 June 2021, at the age of 89. Claire Martin, (18 April 1914 – 18 June 2014) was the pseudonym of the Canadian writer Claire Montreuil. She wrote mainly in French. Her novels often have themes of women's liberation and erotic relationships. Lise Bissonnette (born December 13, 1945) is a Canadian writer and journalist. Biography Born in Rouyn, Quebec, Bissonnette studied education science at the Université de Montréal from 1965 to 1970. She later pursued doctoral studies at the University of Strasbourg and the École pratique des hautes études in Paris. In 1974, she became a reporter for the daily newspaper ''Le Devoir''. She became the parliamentary correspondent in Quebec City, then in Ottawa, before taking on the position of editorialist and, finally, that of writer-in-chief in 1982. From 1986 to 1990, she worked as an independent journalist and consultant, and collaborated with many Quebec and Canadian media organizations. Roland Giguère
Roland (; frk, *Hrōþiland; lat-med, Hruodlandus or ''Rotholandus''; it, Orlando or ''Rolando''; died 15 August 778) was a Frankish military leader under Charlemagne who became one of the principal figures in the literary cycle known as the Matter of France. The historical Roland was military governor of the Breton March, responsible for defending Francia's frontier against the Bretons. Maryvonne Kendergi
Maryvonne Kendergi or Kendergian, (15 August 191527 September 2011) was a Canadian-Armenian writer, professor, musicologist, pianist, and French-speaking Quebecer, Québécois commentator. Life Kendergi was born 15 August 1915 in Gaziantep, Aintab to an Armenians, Armenian family. Due to the Armenian genocide she fled to Syria, where she grew up, then moved to France. At the University of Paris, Sorbonne, she studied and gained an advanced degree in 1942. She moved to Canada in 1952, and became a Canadian citizen in 1960. For ten years she hosted radio programs on contemporary music on Radio-Canada and also appeared regularly on television. She taught at the Université de Montréal. She played an important role in the founding of the Quebec Contemporary Music Society in 1966. She was a past president of the Canadian Music Council.
