Mecklenburg Switzerland (german: Mecklenburgische Schweiz) is a landscape in the middle of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, north of the Mecklenburg Lake District and immediately northwest of Lake Malchin and Lake Kummerow. Rostock (district)
Rostock (german: Landkreis Rostock) is a district in the north of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is bounded by (from the west and clockwise) the district Nordwestmecklenburg, the Baltic Sea, the district-free city Rostock and the districts Vorpommern-Rügen, Mecklenburgische Seenplatte and Ludwigslust-Parchim. The district seat is the town Güstrow. History Rostock District was established by merging the former districts of Bad Doberan and Güstrow as part of the local government reform of September 2011. Little Switzerland (landscape)
A little Switzerland or ''Schweiz'' is a landscape, often of wooded hills. This Romantic aesthetic term is not a geographic category, but was widely used in the 19th century to connote dramatic natural scenic features that would be of interest to tourists. Since it was ambiguous from the very beginning, it was flexibly used in travel writing to imply that a landscape had some features, though on a much smaller scale, that might remind a visitor of Switzerland. Rock outcrops The original generic term was applied to dozens of locations in Europe, the bulk of them German-speaking, as well as to other parts of the world, to direct attention to rock outcrops that stand out, usually amid steep forest. Remplin
Remplin is a village and a former municipality in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Since 7 June 2009, it is part of the municipality Malchin. Palace Complex The town includes the remains of a once large palace complex, the Schloss Remplin, which served as the summer home of a member of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz family who lived in Russia, and then as the main residence of the Mecklenburg-Strelitz family until 1940, when it was destroyed by fire. After 1940 the family moved to Berlin and then after World war two, as with every other royal family who held land in what would become East Germany, ended up losing everything they had to the Soviets. After restitution agreements in 2004, some of the surviving palace complex was returned to the family, albeit in terrible condition. Teterow
Teterow () is a town of Germany, in the district of Rostock, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is the geographical center of this federal state. It had a population of 8,852 in 2011. History The ''Stadtkirche St. Peter und Paul'' (St. Peter and St. Paul's Church), was built in 1215 in Late Romanesque and Gothic style. Neukalen
Neukalen is a town in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated 19 km southwest of Demmin. History (Old) Kalen was first mentioned in a document of 1174. After 1236, Kalen, now called Altkalen, was located on the trade route from Stettin (now ''Szczecin'') to Rostock and it expanded as a city with a strong fortification. The city got lands and in 1253 it was granted the ''Lübeck law''. In 1281 the city was moved for unknown reasons to Gnoien and so Neukalen was newly founded in 1281. Malchin () is a town in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.
