''Mecano'' is the debut studio album recorded by Spanish synthpop, synth-pop homonymous band Mecano, released on April 5, 1982 under the label Columbia Records, Discos CBS. The album spawned five singles, "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar (song), Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar", "Perdido en mi Habitación", "Me Colé en Una Fiesta", "Maquillaje (song), Maquillaje" and "No Me Enseñen la Lección", all of them receiving pop culture popularity in Spain. While two of them made it to number one in the Spanish Airplays. Those being "Me Colé en Una Fiesta" and "Maquillaje". Both spending a week at the top of the charts, while the first of them spent six week stop the Spanish Singles Sales Chart. While "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar" and "Perdido en mi Habitación" made it into the ''top 10'' of the Spanish charts, peaking at number four and number two respectively. The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. Electronic drums is a modern electronic musical instrument, primarily designed to serve as an alternative to an acoustic drum kit. Electronic drums consist of an electronic sound module which produces the synthesized or sampled percussion sounds and a set of 'pads', usually constructed in a shape to resemble drums and cymbals, which are equipped with electronic sensors (or triggers) to send an electronic signal to the sound module which outputs a sound to the player. Simmons SDS-V
The Simmons SDS 5, SDSV, or Simmons Drum Synthesizer (notated as ''SDS-V'' on the following) was the first viable electronic replacement for acoustic drums. It was developed by Richard James Burgess and Dave Simmons, manufactured initially by Musicaid in Hatfield, UK, and commercially released in 1981. After Musicaid went bankrupt, Simmons set up a new manufacturing company under his name, Simmons. Burgess pioneered the use of the SDS-V, triggering the prototype version with a Roland MC-8 Microcomposer in 1979 to make Landscape's groundbreaking computer-programmed futurist album '' From the Tea-Rooms of Mars... Peter Van Hooke
Peter Van Hooke (born 6 April 1950) is an English rock drummer and producer with over 350 credits to his name. He was the drummer for the English band Mike + The Mechanics (from 1984 to 1995) and also drummed for Van Morrison's band, Headstone, and Ezio. During the 1980s he co-produced (along with Rod Argent) many of Tanita Tikaram's hits. Education and early life Van Hooke grew up in Stanmore, Middlesex, England and attended Mill Hill School. His schoolmate Chaz Jankel (later of the Blockheads) lived close by, and the two formed The Call of The Wild. Linn LM-1
The Linn LM-1 Drum Computer is a drum machine manufactured by Linn Electronics and released in 1980. It was the first drum machine to use samples of acoustic drums, and one of the first programmable drum machines. Its designer, the American engineer Roger Linn, wanted a machine that would produce more realistic drum sounds and offer more than preset patterns. The LM-1 became a staple of 1980s pop music and helped establish drum machines as credible tools. Cadillac (band)
Cadillac were a Spanish pop group, active between 1981 and 1986. They are known internationally for their participation in the 1986 Eurovision Song Contest. The group was founded in Madrid in 1981 by José María Guzmán (vocals/guitar) and Eduardo Ramírez (vocals/bass). They recruited Pedro Sánchez (vocals/keyboards) and Javier de Juan (drums) to form a quartet. Their first album, ''Pensando en tí'', was released later that year to critical approval but only modest sales. Javier de Juan left the group in 1982 and was replaced by Daniel Jacques. Cadillac's second and third albums. ''Llegas de madrugada'' and ''Un día mas'', also failed to sell in large quantities. Nacho Cano
Ignacio Cano Andrés (b. Madrid, 26 February 1963), better known as Nacho Cano, is a Spanish arranger, composer, musician and record producer. He and his brother showed an interest in music in their young lives. At 5, he began to play the Spanish guitar and at 12 he started his first band called "Prisma", with Toti Arboles and Eduardo Benavente, both of whom would later make up the core of the sociocultural movement that took place in Spain after Franco's death, known as the "Movida Madrileña". After playing in several different bands in his early teens, Nacho formed Mecano with his brother José María Cano, Jose and his brother's friend Ana Torroja.
