''Meanwhile EP'' is an extended play by English virtual band Gorillaz, released on 26 August 2021. The EP was released as a celebration of Notting Hill Carnival in London, England, an annual event that was canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Background On 29 June 2021, Damon Albarn revealed in an interview with NME that Gorillaz was working on new "carnival-themed music", saying that their upcoming record would return to the band's roots. On 10 August 2021, Gorillaz debuted three new songs, "Meanwhile" (featuring British rapper Jelani Blackman), "Jimmy Jimmy" (featuring British rapper AJ Tracey), and "Déjà Vu" (featuring Jamaican singer Alicaì Harley), during a free concert at The O2 Arena in London, England exclusively for National Health Service employees and their families. Demon Strings are a British stringed instrument group. They are best known for being the in-house string section for musician Damon Albarn, having recorded and performed live for several of his projects including The Good, the Bad & the Queen, Gorillaz, Blur and '' Monkey: Journey to the West''. Career Formed in 2005 by cellist Isabelle Dunn (aka. Izzi Dunn) and manager Tee Bowry, Demon Strings is composed of some of the UK's finest string players specializing in live, television and recorded work. Jorja Alice Smith (born 11 June 1997) is an English singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Walsall, West Midlands, she has been writing songs since the age of 11. Seye Adelekan (born 15 May 1988), sometimes known mononymously as Seye ( ), is a Nigerian British bassist, musician and singer-songwriter, best known as the live bassist for Gorillaz since 2017. Stephen Sedgwick is a British mix engineer best known for his work with Damon Albarn and Gorillaz. He is based at Studio 13 in West London. Career Stephen began his career in 2002 at London's Pierce Rooms. It was at Pierce Rooms in 2004, while working on the second Gorillaz studio album Demon Days, where Stephen first met Damon Albarn.
