Darius Mead
Darius Mead (July 9, 1787– January 28, 1864) was a member of the Connecticut Senate representing the 12th District from 1844 to 1846. Mead was the son of Joshua and Rachel (Knapp) Mead, of Round Hill, Greenwich, Conn., was born in that town, July 9, 1787. He was fitted for College under the tuition of Rev. I. Lewis, D.D. he graduated from Yale College in 1807. After pursuing a course of study under Dr. Benjamin Rush, in Philadelphia, he received a medical diploma in 1809. He practiced medicine for a few months in New York City, but returned to his native town in 1810 and there continued to reside, still engaged in practice. In 1845 and 1846, he represented the 12th Senatorial District in the Senate of Connecticut, being nominated without his knowledge of the intentions of his fellow-citizens. Jared Michel Mead (born June 23, 1991) is an American politician serving as a member of the Snohomish County Council, representing the 4th district since 2020. A member of the Democratic Party (United States), Democratic Party, he previously served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. He was also a member of the Mill Creek, Washington, Mill Creek City Council. Jane Mead (August 13, 1958 – September 8, 2019) was an American poet and the author of five poetry collections. Her last volume was ''To the Wren: Collected & New Poems 1991-2019'' (Alice James Books, 2019). Her honors included fellowships from the Lannan and Guggenheim foundations and a Whiting Award. Her poems appeared in literary journals and magazines including ''Ploughshares'', ''Electronic Poetry Review'', ''The American Poetry Review'', ''The New York Times'', the ''Virginia Quarterly Review'', and ''The Antioch Review'' and in anthologies including ''The Best American Poetry 1990''. James Craig (born James Henry Meador, February 4, 1912 – June 27, 1985) was an American actor. He is best known for appearances in films like '' Kitty Foyle'' (1940) and ''The Devil and Daniel Webster'' (1941), and his stint as a leading man at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1940s where he appeared in films like '' The Human Comedy'' (1943). Biography He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and studied at the Rice Institute, planning a career in medicine. Hassan Mead ( Somali: Xassan Miicaad, ar, حسن ميد; born June 28, 1989) is a Somali-American long-distance runner. He was a cross country and track athlete for the University of Minnesota. An eight-time All-American in his Minnesota career, four in cross country (2007, 2008, 2009, 2011) and five in track (2008 outdoor, 2009 indoor and outdoor, 2012 indoor and outdoor). Gertrude Ella Mead (1867–1919) was an Australian medical doctor and advocate for women and children. Mead was the third woman doctor registered in Western Australia. She was a founder of the Child protection society of Western Australia as well as an early advocate for homes for the aged and daycare centres. Early life and education Gertrude Ella Mead was born on 31 December 1867 in Adelaide, the third child of Baptist minister Silas Mead and Ann Mead (née Staples). She attended the Advanced School for Girls alongside her sister Lilian, the first public secondary school in South Australia and the first school to allow girls to matriculate and qualify for university.
