MeMZ
MEMZ is a brand of vehicle engines related to Melitopol Engine Factory ( uk, Мелітопольський моторний завод; literally "Melitopol Motor Plant" ), which is located in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Oblast and it is a part of AvtoZAZ motor vehicle manufacturer out of Zaporizhzhia. The factory was founded in 1908 by a Ukrainian Mennonite entrepreneur Izrail Davidovich Zaferman, intending to build diesel engines. After the October Revolution, it was nationalized, and until 1925 operated as the Russian Second Soviet Factory. It was renamed into the ''artel'' ''Pobeda'' (Victory) in 1925 and was focused mainly on diesel engine for applications in agricultural and construction machinery, and for fishing boats. ZAZ Zaporozhets ( uk, Запоро́жець) was a series of rear wheel drive, rear-wheel-drive superminis (city cars in their first generation) designed and built from 1958 at the ZAZ factory in Soviet Ukraine. Different models of the Zaporozhets, all of which had an air-cooled Rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, engine in the rear, were produced until 1994. Since the late 1980s, the final series, 968M, was replaced by the cardinally different ZAZ Tavria, ZAZ-1102 Tavria hatchback, which featured a front-wheel drive and a more powerful water-cooled engine. ZAZ Tavria
ZAZ Tavria ( uk, ЗАЗ Таврія) is a range of front-wheel-drive subcompact cars produced by the Soviet and then Ukrainian manufacturer ZAZ. ZAZ-1102 Tavria and subsequent ZAZ-1102 Tavria Nova, ZAZ-1105 Dana, ZAZ-1103 Slavuta and ZAZ-11055 Tavria Pick-Up replaced the rear wheel drive Zaporozhets series in the product lineup. Production of all ZAZ Tavria models (except Pick-up) stopped in 2007. ZAZ-1102 Tavria In the 1970s, several experimental models of hatchback and two-door sedan were created in the USSR. The LuAZ-967 ('' uk, ЛуАЗ-967'') was the Transporter of the Front Line, a small Soviet four-wheel drive amphibious vehicle. Light enough to be air transportable, it had a payload over most terrain. History The design originated after the Korean War, when the Soviets saw a need for small off-road vehicles comparable to the American Jeep, to supplement the overly-large and -heavy GAZ-69s then in service. AvtoZAZ ( uk, АвтоЗАЗ) is an automotive manufacturing company in Ukraine. It was founded in 1975 as Industrial Association, а holding that incorporated ZAZ, MeMZ, Illichivsk Automobile Parts Plant ( uk, Іллічівський завод автоагрегатів) and a number of other automobile-production facilities in Lutsk (LuAZ) and Kherson. Air-cooled engines rely on the circulation of air directly over heat dissipation fins or hot areas of the engine to cool them in order to keep the engine within operating temperatures. In all combustion engines, a great percentage of the heat generated (around 44%) escapes through the exhaust, not through the metal fins of an air-cooled engine (12%).
