Md. Ataur Rahman Khan
Md. Ataur Rahman Khan is a judge of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Khan was born on 1 December 1957. Career Khan joined the district court as a lawyer on 5 March 1984. On 27 December 1989, Khan became a lawyer of the High Court Division and on 6 June 1999 he became a lawyer of the Appellate Division. Khan was appointed an additional judge of the High Court Division on 23 September 2004 and made a permanent judge of the division on 23 August 2006. Khan was one of 19 High Court Division judges who opposed a High Court verdict asking the government to reinstate 10 judges. The ten judges appointment was not confirmed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party government. On 29 August 2008, Khan and Justice Nozrul Islam Chowdhury acquitted six of the accused in the Jail Killing case while confirming the jail sentence of one. The acquitted are A.K.M. High Court Division
The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division. The High Court Division exercises both original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters. The prime jurisdiction of it is the Writ Jurisdiction, pursuant to which it is empowered under article 102 of the Constitution of Bangladesh to issue writ of certiorari, mandamus, quo warranto, prohibition and habeas corpus. Surendra Kumar Sinha (born 1 February 1951), commonly known as SK Sinha is a Bangladeshi lawyer and jurist who served as the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh. He resigned from the position in November 2017 amid the 16th amendment verdict controversy. Early life and education Sinha was born in a Kshatriya Family in the present-day Tilakpur village in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar District in 1951 to Bishnupriya Manipuri parents, Lalit Mohan Sinha and Dhanabati Sinha. He obtained his bachelor of laws degree in 1974 from the Sylhet Law College. Career Sinha enrolled as an advocate of the District Court, Sylhet in 1974 and practiced in that court under the guidance of two civil and criminal lawyers and conducted sessions trial cases independently till the end of 1977. Eunus (died 132 BC) was a Roman slave from Apamea in Syria who became the leader of the slave uprising in the First Servile War (135 BC–132 BC) in the Roman province of Sicily. Eunus rose to prominence in the movement through his reputation as a prophet and wonder-worker and ultimately declared himself king. Mahmud Hossain, was the second Chief Justice of Bangladesh. Sirajul Haque Khan, (1924 – 14 December 1971) born in the district of Noakhali, was a Bengali educationist and martyred intellectual of 1971. Education Khan graduated from college in 1949 and obtained an M.Ed. degree from Institute of Education Research (IER), Dhaka University, in 1965. He obtained Ed.D. from the State College of Colorado, United States in 1967 and joined IER, DU as a senior lecturer.
