Alice Cary McKinney ( Sadler; 1865–1928) was an American temperance and social reformer. She served as President of the Louisiana Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). Early life and education Alice Cary Sadler was born in Alabama at Fort Deposit or Pollard, March 20, 1865. Her parents were Francis Wilson Sadler, Jr (b. 1827) and Loretta Cary Crary Sadler (1831-1910). Alice's siblings were: Everett, Olive, John, Ella, Harriet, and Ida. She was educated in the public schools of Alabama and at Whitworth Female College, Brookhaven, Mississippi. Career She left college during her junior year (1884) to teach school in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, where she remained until 1886. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 - February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.) Later rock music disc jockeys, such as Alan Freed and Wolfman Jack, mimicked Richbourg's practice of using speech that simulated African-American street language of the mid-twentieth century. Jimmy McKinney (born August 23, 1983) is an American professional basketball player and film actor. Basketball career McKinney attended Vashon High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the leading scorer on Vashon's 2001 and 2002 basketball teams, both of which won Missouri state championships. He later received a full scholarship to play college basketball at the University of Missouri. Since his graduation McKinney plays for the Frankfurt Skyliners. Jeremy Adam McKinney (born January 6, 1976) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League for the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys. John Paul McKinney (July 13, 1935 – September 25, 2018) was an American college and professional basketball coach. As a head coach in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Los Angeles Lakers, he introduced an up-tempo style of play that became known as Showtime. However, his only season with the Lakers ended prematurely after a bicycle accident. McKinney joined the Indiana Pacers, where he was named NBA Coach of the Year in 1981. He also coached the Kansas City Kings (now known as the Sacramento Kings). In addition, he served as an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Portland Trail Blazers. Irene McKinney (April 20, 1939 – February 4, 2012) was an American poet and editor, and served as the Poet Laureate of the state of West Virginia from her appointment by Governor Gaston Caperton in January 1994 until her death. Hannah McKinney is the former vice-mayor and mayor of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She was elected mayor on November 8, 2005, after previously serving since 1997 as the vice-mayor under the late Robert Jones.
