McKenney
McKenney is an incorporated town in Dinwiddie County, Virginia, United States. The population was 483 at the 2010 census. History McKenney is located along a former railroad mainline. The Richmond, Petersburg and Carolina Railroad, passing through McKenney from Petersburg, Virginia to Ridgeway Junction (today Norlina, North Carolina), was completed in 1900, at which point it was merged into the Seaboard Air Line (SAL). By 1914, the population of McKenney was estimate by the railroad to be somewhere around 300. The line (dubbed the "S-line" after later mergers) continued to operate until the 1980s, and today McKenney is along the abandoned portion of the CSX Norlina Subdivision. Montrose, the Sappony Church, and Zehmer Farm are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Near McKenney is a historical marker, erected by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Historic Resources in 1986, honoring the achievements of educator Sallie Jones Atkinson. A (bridge) signal is a move in the card game of contract bridge in which partners defending against a contract play particular cards in a manner which gives a coded meaning or ''signal'' to guide their subsequent card play. This may also be referred to as ''carding''. Signals are usually given with the cards from the two-spot to the nine-spot. Mount McKenny
The Daniels Range is a principal mountain range of the Usarp Mountains, about 80 km (50 mi) long and 16 km (10 mi) wide, bounded to the north by Harlin Glacier and to the south by Gressitt Glacier. The range was mapped by USGS from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–63. Named by US-ACAN after Ambassador Paul C. McKenny Union
McKenny Hall, previously called McKenny Union and Charles McKenny Union, was the first student union on the campus of the Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan. At various times the building has included bookstores, a bowling alley, a bank, a food court, a ballroom, and other social spaces for students. Today the building is known as McKenny Hall and is home to human resources, academic advising, and career services. After the new Eastern Michigan University Student Center opened in 2006, McKenny closed for renovations and structural preservation work. The building is located across from the famous Ypsilanti Water Tower on Cross Street and is a contributing property to the Eastern Michigan University Historic District.
