Alfred McGaw
Lt.-Col. Alfred Joseph Thoburn McGaw (1 April 1900–8 February 1984) was an English cricketer and British Army officer. McGaw was a right-handed batsman who bowled leg spin. The son of John McGaw and Pauline Tate, he was born at Haslemere, Surrey, and was educated at Charterhouse School. McGaw made his first-class debut in cricket for Sussex against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 1928. He made a second first-class appearance in that season for Sussex, in the return fixture between the teams at the County Ground, Hove. In June 1930, while serving in the British Raj, McGaw made a further first-class appearance for a Punjab Governor's XI against the Muslims. The following year, back in England, McGaw made two first-class appearances for the Army against Oxford University and the Royal Air Force. Jack McGaw
John Howard David "Jack" McGaw (May 22, 1936 – October 18, 2012) was a Canadian journalist and radio operator. He was a cohost of the consumer newsmagazine '' Live It Up!'' in the early 1980s, and subsequently produced and hosted freelance documentary programming. In the mid-1990s, McGaw launched a tourist information radio station on Vancouver Island. He subsequently moved to Halifax in 2001, and operated that city's CIRH-FM, and similar stations in the Information Radio network in locations across Canada. McGaw died of gallbladder cancer on October 18, 2012 in Kitchener, Ontario, at the age of 76. Mark McGaw (born 17 May 1964) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Nicknamed Sparkles, he achieved national and state representative honors in the sport and following his retirement became one of the Gladiators in the Australian version of the TV show. McGaw's usual position was at . McGaw is also the current coach of the North Sydney Bears SG Ball team for 2016. Samuel McGaw
Samuel McGaw VC (1838 – 22 July 1878) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Details McGaw was about 36 years old, and a lance-sergeant in the 42nd Regiment of Foot (later The Black Watch Royal Highlanders), British Army during the First Ashanti Expedition when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 21 January 1874 at the Battle of Amoaful, Ashanti (now Ghana), Lance-Sergeant McGaw led his section through the bush in a most excellent manner and continued to do so throughout the day, although badly wounded early in the engagement. Further information He later achieved the rank of sergeant. He died of a fever whilst serving with his regiment in Cyprus. He is now buried in The Old British Cemetery in Kyrenia, North Cyprus.
