Diane McFarlin
Diane McFarlin is an American educator and author. She retired in 2021 as dean of the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. Career McFarlin began her journalism career in high school and took a reporting job at the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Sarasota (FL) Herald-Tribune after earning her degree at the University of Florida. She became managing editor at 30 and was named executive editor of The Gainesville Sun three years later. She then returned to the Herald-Tribune, serving as executive editor for a decade and publisher for 13 years. McFarlin became dean of the UFC College of Journalism and Communications in January 2013. Ivan McFarlin
Ivan McFarlin (born April 26, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. Basketball career McFarlin attended Willowridge High School in Houston, Texas, where he led his team to win the state championship in his senior year, as he averaged 15.9 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 3.2 steals. McFarlin played college basketball at Oklahoma State University, and helped the Cowboys to a Final Four appearance in 2004, where the team lost to Georgia Tech on a late-game basket. He is one of four Oklahoma State players to have over 1,000 points, 700 rebounds, and 100 blocks, the other three being Byron Houston, Leroy Combs and Bryant Reeves. In the 2006-07 NBA season, McFarlin was a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, but was traded on December 19, 2006, along with NBA superstar Allen Iverson for two draft picks, Andre Miller and Joe Smith. McFarlin Memorial Auditorium
McFarlin Memorial Auditorium is a proscenium style theatre located on the campus of Southern Methodist University. The venue seats 2,386 on three levels. The building is the third oldest on SMU's campus and has hosted a number of notable acts. History By the early 1920s, the students, faculty and staff of SMU had severely outgrown the capacity of Dallas and Clements Halls. Arguments were put forth as to what the next campus building should be. In the end, President Selecman and the Methodist bishops made the decision to build a chapel/auditorium as SMU's third permanent building. Financing was secured by a generous donation from devout Methodist and San Antonio businessman Robert M. McFarlin. The McFarlin Memorial Auditorium was opened in 1926 to fulfill the University's pressing need for a chapel that could accommodate the entire student body.
