McDonald Island (California)
McDonald Island is an island in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, 53 km (33 mi) south of Sacramento. The island is bounded on the north by San Joaquin River, on the west by Middle River and Latham Slough, and on the south by Empire Cut. It appears unlabeled on a 1913 United States Geological Survey map of the area, and on a 1952 USGS map as "McDonald Tract". It is in San Joaquin County, California, and managed by Reclamation District 2030. Northern California (colloquially known as NorCal) is a geographic and cultural region that generally comprises the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. San Joaquin River
The San Joaquin River (; es, Río San Joaquín) is the longest river of Central California. The long river starts in the high Sierra Nevada, and flows through the rich agricultural region of the northern San Joaquin Valley before reaching Suisun Bay, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean. An important source of irrigation water as well as a wildlife corridor, the San Joaquin is among the most heavily dammed and diverted of California's rivers.
