Allen Gabriel McDill (born August 23, 1971) is a former left-handed specialist in Major League Baseball who pitched from 1997 through 2001 for the Kansas City Royals (1997–98), Detroit Tigers (2000) and Boston Red Sox (2001). McDill attended Arkansas Tech University. In 1991, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In a four-season major league career, McDill posted a 7.79 ERA in 38 appearances, including 11 games finished, 28 strikeouts, 18 walks, 38 hits allowed, and 34⅔ innings of work, without gaining a decision or save. From 1992 to 2002, McDill also pitched for the Mets (1992–95), Royals (1995–97), Rangers (1999, 2002), Tigers (2000), Cardinals (2000), Red Sox (2001) and Orioles (2002) minor league systems. Robert Lee McDill (born April 4, 1944) is a retired American songwriter, active from the 1960s until 2000. During his career he wrote or co-wrote 31 number one country hits. His songs were also recorded by popular artists of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, including The Grateful Dead, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, Anne Murray and B. J. Thomas. His movie credits include ''Primary Colors'', ''The Thing Called Love'', ''Texasville'' and the documentary ''Grizzly Man''. Jeff McDill
Jeffrey Donald McDill (March 16, 1956 – November 3, 2012) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who played in one National Hockey League game for the Chicago Black Hawks during the 1976–77 season, on March 12, 1977 against the Montreal Canadiens. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1976 to 1980, was spent in the minor leagues. He died aged 56 on November 3, 2012. McDill was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario. McDill "Huck" Boyd
McDill "Huck" Boyd (April 17, 1907 – January 9, 1987) was a noted small-town newspaper publisher in Phillipsburg, Kansas, United States, and twice a candidate for governor of that state. Journalism career Boyd for decades was the publisher of ''The Phillips County Review'', a weekly newspaper in his hometown. His parents, Frank W. and Mamie Alexander Boyd, purchased the paper the year he was born; Frank had previously been the editor since 1902 of the ''Phillips County Post''. The couple changed the name of the paper from the ''Post'' to the ''Review.'' There was considerable competition at that time in sparsely populated Phillips County, with four other newspapers in Phillipsburg and other publications in neighboring, smaller towns. Huck, the Boyds' first child, joined the newspaper staff in 1929 as a junior editor when the Great Depression caused him to withdraw from college and return home to help his parents.
