Albert McCleery
Albert McCleery (December 30, 1911 – May 13, 1972) was an American pioneering television producer during the 1950s. He had a reputation "as an innovative contributor to some of television's most esteemed theatrical productions". McCleery was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. McCleery. He spent much of his youth in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from R. L. Paschal High School there. He helped to found a dramatic club at the school, and as a senior he was named the best actor in one-act play competition in Austin, Texas. He went on to attend Northwestern University and Pasadena Community Playhouse. McCleery had a background in American community theatres, having helped in the creation of experimental theatre companies across the United States. Alan McCleery
Alan McCleery (June 13, 1929 – July 1, 2022) was a Canadian sprint canoer, born in Montreal, who competed from the late 1940s through the early 1960s. He was eliminated in the repechage round of the K-2 1000 m event at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. McCleery grew up in Montreal and started paddling at the Grand Trunk Boating Club on the St Lawrence River. Together with K-2 partner Lou Lukanovich, McCleery qualified for the 1956 Olympic team, but did not compete once it was confirmed that Lukanovich would not be granted Canadian citizenship by the time the games started. With the Grand Trunk club severely impacted by the construction of the St Lawrence Seaway, McCleery and Lukanovich both moved to the Cartierville Canoe Club in the late 50s. James McCleery
James McCleery (December 2, 1837 – November 5, 1871) was an Ohio-born lawyer and officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He also served as U.S. Representative from Louisiana. Biography Born in Mecca Township, Trumbull County, Ohio, McCleery attended Oberlin (Ohio) College in 1859 and 1860. He served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He received a commission as second lieutenant of Company A, 41st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, in 1861, and was wounded in the Battle of Shiloh in 1862, as a result losing his right arm. He was promoted through the ranks to major in 1865. He entered the Regular Army as captain in the 45th U.S. Infantry in 1866 and subsequently received the brevets of major (in the regulars) and brigadier general of Volunteers. He retired on December 15, 1870, having settled in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, where he purchased a plantation and went into the practice of law. Joe McCleery
Joe McCleery was an Irish football (soccer), football manager. Biography McCleery was born in Lurgan around 1884. He was the first manager of Derry City F.C. upon their entry into the IFA Premiership, Irish League in 1929. Prior to this he had been manager of Dundalk F.C., Dundalk. William McCleery (politician)
Sir William Victor McCleery (17 July 1887 – 30 October 1957) was a prominent Unionist in Northern Ireland. McCleery was the managing director of Hale, Martin and Company, and from 1921 until 1946 was the President of the Ballymoney Chamber of Commerce, from 1922 until 1945 was chair of the North Antrim Agricultural Association, and from 1931 to 1946 was President of the North Antrim Unionist Association. He was also the Grand Master of the Orange Order in County Antrim. McCleery was elected as the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) Member of Parliament for North Antrim at a by-election in 1945. In 1949, he briefly served as Minister of Labour, before becoming Minister of Commerce until 1953. In 1949, he was also appointed to the Privy Council of Northern Ireland. After being relieved of his ministerial post, he became chairman of the Unionist Back Bench Committee until 1956. He was knighted in 1954.
