Clive McCay
Clive Maine McCay (21 March 1898 – 8 June 1967) was an American biochemist, nutritionist and gerontologist. Biography McCay was professor of animal husbandry at Cornell University from 1927 to 1963. His main interest was the influence of nutrition on aging. He is best known for his work in proving that caloric restriction increases the life span of rats, which is seen as seminal in triggering further research and experiments in the field of nutrition and longevity. Scientists are still trying to understand the connection between caloric restriction and longevity. Following his discovery between a low calorie diet and longevity, McCay played a prominent role in the development of nutritionally-sound rations during World War II, and the creation of Cornell Bread, a type of high protein, high vitamin bread meant to echo the same high protein vitamin meal he fed to his mice in longevity experiments. Henry Kent McCay (January 8, 1820 – July 30, 1886) was a lawyer, a Confederate States Army and Georgia militia officer, an associate justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, and a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Education and career Born in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, on January 8, 1820, McCay was the son of Robert and Sarah (Read) McCay. McCay received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Princeton University in 1839. He then moved to Georgia where his brother, Charles F. McCay, was a professor at the University of Georgia in Athens. James Whiteside McCay
Lieutenant General Sir James Whiteside McCay, (21 December 1864 – 1 October 1930), who often spelt his surname M'Cay, was an Australian general and politician. A graduate of the University of Melbourne, where he earned Master of Arts and Master of Laws degrees, McCay established a successful legal practice, McCay & Thwaites. He was a member of the Victorian Parliament for Castlemaine from 1895 to 1899, where he was a champion of women's suffrage and federation. He lost his seat in 1899 but became a member of the first Australian Federal Parliament in 1901. He was Minister for Defence from 1904 to 1905, during which he implemented long-lasting reforms, including the creation of the Military Board. The Reverend Norman McCay is a fictional character from the DC Comics mini-series ''Kingdom Come'', where he acted as the narrator and ''de facto'' protagonist. Patrick McCay (born 1952) is an Irish-born, Scottish/American painter currently residing in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. He is currently Chair of the Visual Arts Department at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Early life McCay earned an undergraduate degree in fine art and a master's degree in painting from the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland (1970–76). Zenas Winsor McCay ( – July 26, 1934) was an American cartoonist and animator. He is best known for the comic strip ''Little Nemo'' (1905–14; 1924–26) and the animated film ''Gertie the Dinosaur'' (1914). For contractual reasons, he worked under the pen name Silas on the comic strip ''Dream of the Rarebit Fiend''. From a young age, McCay was a quick, prolific, and technically dextrous artist.
