David Bruce (born Marden Andrew McBroom; January 6, 1914 – May 3, 1976) was an American film actor. He was a company member of Peninsula Players Theatre in Fish Creek, Wisconsin in 1939. Life and career Born in Kankakee, Illinois, Marden Andrew McBroom was known as "Andy" to his friends. McBroom entered Northwestern University in 1934 intending to study law but became a drama major. In 1940, after extensive travel for theater work, McBroom made his way to California and signed with a Hollywood agent, Henry Willson. The agent changed his name to David Bruce and got him a stock contract at Warner Brothers. Bruce's first role was in the Errol Flynn movie ''The Sea Hawk'' (1940). The 6' 1" (1.85 m) actor was released from his Warner's contract to join the Naval Air Force at the outset of World War II, but he was discharged due to a chronic ear infection. Edward W. McBroom (born May 30, 1981) is a Republican member of the Michigan Senate, representing the 38th district since 2019. Kelly McBroom (born March 21, 1989) is a former Canadian National Ski Alpine Team Member from 2008 to 2011. A member of the National Team for three years, Kelly started racing at Mount Norquay Ski Resort in the Rocky Mountains. In the 2008-2009 season, Kelly raced Nor-Am and Europa Cup races. She had a career with a best result of 6th in a Europa Cup DH in Caspoggio, Italy. Kelly was second over all in the SG Nor-Am standings, earning herself a World Cup spot for the 2009-2010 season. McBroom is the principal and founder of Thomas McBroom Associates Ltd., a Toronto-based landscape architecture firm specializing in golf course design.
