Robert Whitaker McAll (1821–1893) was a congregationalist minister from English and Scottish origin who founded the " Popular Evangelical Mission of France " in Paris in 1872, a movement which gained a considerable following and influence in a few years and which is still in existence today. Biography Early years Robert Whitaker McAll was son of the Methodist minister Robert Stephens McAll and of Sarah Whitaker. He was born on 17 December 1821 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. His father who was a very charismatic pastor in Manchester died in 1838 when Robert McAll was only 17. Passionate about religious architecture Robert McAll started to work in an architect's study in 1839 but after 5 years he turned to Protestant theology, which he studied from 1844 to 1848 in Lancashire Independent College , in Whalley Range College, in Manchester. Barney McAll (born Melbourne, Australia, 1966) is a jazz pianist and composer who lives in Melbourne, Australia. McAll joined Gary Bartz's band in 1997, and has also played with the Josh Roseman Unit, Fred Wesley and the JB's, Groove Collective, and Kurt Rosenwinkel's "Heartcore". He completed his Bachelor of Music at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, and studied in New York and Cuba. Barney is the brother of pianist John McAll. His ensembles include M.O.D.A.S, GRAFT, ASIO (Australian Symbiotic Improvisers Orbit), and Non-Compliance. His most recent ensemble is Precious Energy, which features members from Hiatus Kaiyote, Laneous, and Rita Satch. He released a political ''Black Mirror'' pop album in 2018 called ''Global Intimacy'' under the pseudonym TQX. He was awarded the Australia Council Fellowship in 2007 and worked as musical director for Australian vocalist Sia from 2011 to 2012. John McAll is a pianist, composer, arranger and producer with experience ranging from jazz, pop, blues, rock contemporary classical, afrobeat and theatre. John McAll graduated with a Bachelor of Arts University of Melbourne Faculty of VCA and MCM in 1983 and has worked predominantly as a live musician ever since. John McAll launched his debut recording as band leader and composer in June 2009 with Black Money on independent label Audacity Media. The band performed at the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz in October that year, and the album was rated in the top Albums of the year by '' Herald-Sun'' Jazz reviewer Roger Mitchell in December.
