Mazowsze (folk Group)
Mazowsze (in Polish "Państwowy Zespół Ludowy Pieśni i Tańca "Mazowsze"" – "State Folk Ensemble of Song and Dance 'Mazowsze'") is a famous Polish Folk music, folk dance and song ensemble. It is named after the Mazowsze region of Poland. History Mazowsze was established by a decree issued by the Ministry of Culture and Art on 8 November 1948. The decree ordered Professor Tadeusz Sygietyński to create a folk group that would maintain regional artistic traditions and the traditional folk repertoire of songs and dances of the Masovian countryside. The group was intended to protect this folk tradition from destruction and encapsulate its diversity, beauty and richness. At the beginning Mazowsze's repertoire contained songs and dances from only a few regions of Poland – Opoczno and Kurpie, but it soon extended its range by adopting the traditions of other regions. Lidia Korsakówna (born 17 January 1934, Baranowicze, Poland – died 6 August 2013, Konstancin-Jeziorna) was a Polish theater and film actress. Witold Zapała
Witold Idzi Zapała (5 June 1935 – 9 September 2020) was a Polish dancer, choreographer and pedagogue. For over 50 years (1957 – 2011), Witold Zapala collaborated with Mazowsze, the Polish Song and Dance Ensemble ( pl, Zespół Ludowy Pieśni i Tańca Mazowsze), for whom he created repertory of dances and folk ceremonies from 43 ethnographic regions of Poland. Zapała was also an originator, director and choreographer of children dance group Varsovia. Zapała was born in Dziurów, near Starachowice, and began his career at age 16 with the folk troupe Skolimow. Paweł Aleksander Pawlikowski (; born 15 September 1957) is a Polish filmmaker. He garnered early praise for a string of documentaries in the 1990s and for his award-winning feature films of the 2000s, '' Last Resort'' (2000) and ''My Summer of Love'' (2004). His success continued into the 2010s with ''Ida'' (2013), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and ''Cold War'' (2018), for which Pawlikowski won the Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director, while the film received a nomination for Best Foreign Language Film. ''Cold War'' ( pl, Zimna wojna) is a 2018 historical drama film directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, who co-wrote the screenplay with Janusz Głowacki and Piotr Borkowski. Polonaise (dance)
The polonaise (, ; pl, polonez ) is a dance of Polish origin, one of the five Polish national dances in time. Its name is French for "Polish" adjective feminine/"Polish woman"/"girl". The original Polish name of the dance is Chodzony, meaning "the walking dance". It is one of the most ancient Polish dances representing Polish cultural dance tradition. Polonaise dance influenced European ballrooms, folk music and European classical music. The polonaise has a rhythm quite close to that of the Swedish semiquaver or sixteenth-note polska, and the two dances have a common origin. Andrzej Witold Wajda (; 6 March 1926 – 9 October 2016) was a Polish film and theatre director. Elżbieta Justyna Czyżewska (May 14, 1938 – June 17, 2010) was a Polish actress active in both Poland and the United States.
