Mayura (film)
''Mayura'' is a 1975 Indian Kannada-language historical drama film, directed by Vijay. It is one of the most popular films of acclaimed Kannada actor Rajkumar, who plays the role of Prince Mayurasharma of the Kadamba dynasty, the earliest native kingdom to rule over what is today the modern state of Karnataka. The film depicts the life of Mayura, a Brahmin youth, as he discovers his royal heritage and realizes his destiny of ascending to the throne of the then- Pallava kingdom. Based on a novel of the same name by Devudu Narasimha Sastri, the film is notable for its various scenes filmed inside and around the famous Mysore Palace. The movie was also the last movie to be shot inside the Mysore Palace. The movie saw a theatrical run of 30 weeks. It is considered by many as a symbol of Kannada pride. Mayura (mythology)
Mayura (Sanskrit: मयूर ''Mayūra'') is a Sanskrit word for peacock which is one of the sacred birds of the Hindu culture. It is referred to in a number of Hindu scriptures. It is also a contemporary Hindu name used in many parts of India. Background The legend states that the Mayura was created from the feathers of Garuda, another semi-divine birds of Hindu culture. Garuda is believed to be a vahana (conveyance) of Vishnu, one of the Trimurti. In images of the mayura as a mythical bird, it is depicted as killing a snake, which according to a number of Hindu scriptures, is a symbol of ''cycle of time''. Mahamayuri ( sa, महामायूरी ("great peacock"), ''Kǒngquè Míngwáng'', vi, Khổng Tước Minh Vương, ja, 孔雀明王, ''Kujaku Myōō'', ko, 공작명왕 ''Gongjak Myeongwang''), or Mahāmāyūrī Vidyārājñī is a bodhisattva and female Wisdom King in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. is a Japanese anime television series conceived by Konami and animated by J.C.Staff which originally aired on TV Tokyo from April to September 2005. A PS2 dating sim game of the same name based on the anime was also made by Konami. The North American DVD was released by ADV Films in 2007. Mayura Seno
is a Japanese ''shōjo'' manga written by Yuu Watase. It appeared as a serial in the manga magazine ''Shōjo Comic''. The heroine's name (Alice), and her encounter with a white rabbit (Nyozeka) starts the storyline. Watase has written that she thought of ''Alice in Wonderland'', by Lewis Carroll, in drafting the characters of Alice Seno and Nyozeka. From there she drafted her own story. From 2007 Viz Media released ''Alice 19th'' in English. The series, which is published in the traditional right-to-left format with foot-noted sound effects, spans a total of seven volumes.
