Carmarthen Borough Council
Carmarthen Borough Council was a local authority in the central part of Carmarthenshire, Wales created in 1835 under the Municipal Corporations Act 1835. It succeeded the ''Mayor, Burgesses, and Commonalty of the Borough of Carmarthen'' established by a Royal Charter of 1604. The authority covered the electoral wards of Carmarthen Town North, Carmarthen Town South, and Carmarthen Town West. The authority was abolished following local government reorganisation in 1974, and its role taken on by Carmarthen District Council. Carmarthen (, RP: ; cy, Caerfyrddin , "Merlin's fort" or "Sea-town fort") is the county town of Carmarthenshire and a community in Wales, lying on the River Towy. north of its estuary in Carmarthen Bay. The population was 14,185 in 2011, down from 15,854 in 2001, but gauged at 16,285 in 2019. Llyr Gruffydd
Llŷr Huws Gruffydd, (born 25 September 1970) is a Welsh Plaid Cymru politician, serving as a Member of the Senedd (MS) for the North Wales region since 2011. Background Gruffydd attended Bro Myrddin Welsh Comprehensive School and Aberystwyth University where he graduated with a BA degree in Welsh. He started his career as a youth worker, becoming Senior Development Officer with the Wales Youth Agency and the chief officer for the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services.
