Mayor Of Vasai-Virar
{{Use Indian English, date=July 2015 The Mayor of Vasai-Virar is the first citizen of the Indian city of Vasai-Virar. This person is the chief of the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation of Vasai-Virar region, but the role is largely ceremonial as the real powers are vested in the post of the Municipal Commissioner currently held by D. Gangadhar. The Mayor also plays a functional role in deliberating over the discussions in the Corporation. Rajeev Patil alias ''Nana'' first held this post after creation. Other local leaders like Praveena Thakur, wife of four time member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Hitendra Thakur of Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi and Narayan Mankar of the same party have held this post amongst others. Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation
Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) is the civic body that governs areas and villages in Vasai-Virar taluka in Maharashtra, India comprising the most populated part of Palghar district. According to the 2011 census, it is the fifth largest city in Maharashtra with a population of more than 1.3 million. The city is located 50 km north of Mumbai, on the north bank of Vasai Creek, part of the estuary of the Ulhas River. It was formed on 3 July 2009 by combining four municipal councils and 53 ''gram panchayats''. Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi
Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi (English: ''Bahujan Development Front'') is a regional political party in the Vasai-Virar region of Maharashtra. It was originally known as ''Vasai Vikas Aaghadi''. The party is lead and founded by Hitendra Thakur who was a one-time member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on an Indian National Congress ticket and two time independent MLA before founding the party. Baliram Sukur Jadhav of the BVA, backed by Hitendra Thakur, was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 and declared unconditional support to the UPA government. Kshitij Thakur, MLA from Nalasopara, Rajeev Patil, the first mayor of Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation are some of the well known local leaders associated with the party. Career In 2009, in the 15th Lok Sabha election, Bahujan Vikas Aaghadi won the Palghar seat and Baliram Jadhav became the first member of parliament from the party. Vasai-Virar
Vasai-Virar is an agglomeration of four previously governed municipal councils i.e. Vasai, Virar, Nala Sopara, and Navghar-Manikpur and a few villages on the west as well as the east of the congested city area. It lies in the Konkan division of Maharashtra, India. The twin city of Vasai-Virar is a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). According to the 2011 census, it is the 5th largest city in Maharashtra. Within a close proximity to Mumbai, it is located in Palghar district, Palghar District, & lies north of Vasai Creek and south of the Vaitarna, Vaitarna River. Vasai-Virar is bordered by Mira Bhayander, Mira-Bhayandar and Thane on its south and southeast, Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, Bhiwandi-Nizampur on its east and Palghar rural district on its north.
