Maxstoke
Maxstoke is a hamlet and civil parish in the North Warwickshire district of the county of Warwickshire, England. It is situated approximately 2.5 miles north of Meriden. Maxstoke and the parish of Maxstoke were established in the hundred of Hemlingford. Maxstoke Priory The Priory was established by Sir William de Clinton in 1331 when he endowed a College of Priests consisting of five chaplains and a warden. It was built adjacent to an earlier moated farmstead, south of his castle towards Packington village. In 1336 it was expanded to a full Priory for Augustinian Canons and was completed in 1343. It was dissolved in 1536, when the buildings and lands were granted to Charles Brandon. Today only ruins remain with the exception of the Inner Gatehouse. This was a farmhouse in the Elizabethan period and is now a bed and breakfast establishment. Inside is a room with painted armorial shields. The entrance to the farm is by the Outer Gatehouse. Billy Maxted
William George Maxted (January 21, 1917 – October 11, 2001) was an American jazz pianist. Career Maxted began his career in 1937 as a member of the Red Nichols big band, for which he wrote arrangements. After three years, he played with Teddy Powell, Ben Pollack, and Will Bradley. He served in the U.S. Navy, then wrote arrangements for the big bands of Claude Thornhill and Benny Goodman. During 1947, he led a band with Ray Eberle and soon after led the Manhattan Jazz Band, which played Dixieland with Bob Zurke on boogie-woogie piano. During the 1950s, he had a steady job as house pianist at Nick's club in Greenwich Village. He also recorded for MGM, Brunswick, Cadence, and Seeco. In 1958, British bandleader Reg Owen had a major hit on the American charts with Maxted's upbeat instrumental composition, "Manhattan Spiritual", released on the Palette label. Adam Maxted (born 27 March 1992) is a Northern Irish professional wrestler and former contestant on ITV2 show '' Love Island''. Having been a contestant on Series two of ''Love Island'', having entered at day 11, Maxted paired up with Katie Salmon and finished the series in fourth position.
