Maxime Landreville
Maxime Landreville (1860–1938) was a Canadian politician, who served three non-consecutive terms as a member of the Yukon Territorial Council. Originally from Saint-Paul, Quebec, Landreville moved to Yukon in 1895 to work as a miner. He settled in Dawson City, and in 1898 he was part of a delegation from the city who travelled to Ottawa to lobby for changes in federal mining regulation. He was first elected to the territorial council in the 1903 Yukon general election to represent Yukon Electoral District No. 2. He served until 1905, and did not run for reelection in the 1905 Yukon general election. Yukon Territorial Council
The Yukon Territorial Council was a political body in the Canadian territory of Yukon, prior to the creation of the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Although not a full legislature, the council acted as an advisory body to the Commissioner of Yukon, and had the power to pass non-binding motions of legislation which would be forwarded to the commissioner for consideration. Klondike (electoral District)
Klondike is an electoral district which returns a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Yukon in Canada. One of Yukon's eight rural ridings, it is also the oldest riding in Yukon, first established in 1905. The riding includes Dawson City and its environs, as well as Eagle Plains. Klondike was the only seat won by the Yukon Party in the 2000 territorial election and the only seat held by the Liberals prior to the 2016 territorial election. Franco-Yukonnais People
Franco-Yukonnais () are French Canadian or French speaking residents of Yukon, a territory of Canada. French has full official language status in the Yukon. Demographics The Canada 2016 Census identified 1,575 residents of the territory as francophone, 4.4 percent of the territory's total population. Between 3,500 and 4,000 residents of the territory, or approximately 13 per cent of the total population, are of at least partial French descent. Community The primary institution of the Franco-Yukonnais community is the ''Association Franco-Yukonnaise'', a non-profit organization which coordinates many of the community's cultural activities and acts as the community's voice in political and social issues affecting the community. The 1917 Yukon general election was held on March 15, 1917 to elect the ten members to the 4th Yukon Territorial Council. This election was contested between the Liberals and Conservatives. The election was held using five two-member districts, where voters could cast two votes each. Campaign The Liberals platform was primarily focused on improving working conditions, while the Conservative platform focused on infrastructure development. The ''Times Colonist'' is an English-language daily newspaper in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was formed by the Sept. 2, 1980 merger of the ''Victoria Daily Times'', established in 1884, and the ''British Colonist'' (later the ''Daily Colonist''), established in 1858 by Amor De Cosmos who was later British Columbia's second Premier.
