Maximilian Adelbert Baer (February 11, 1909 – November 21, 1959) was an American professional boxer who was the world heavyweight champion from June 14, 1934, to June 13, 1935. Two of his fights (a 1933 win over Max Schmeling and a 1935 loss to James J. Braddock) were rated Fight of the Year by '' The Ring'' magazine. Baer was also a boxing referee, and had occasional roles on film or television. He was the brother of heavyweight boxing contender Buddy Baer and father of actor Max Baer Jr. Baer is rated #22 on ''The Ring'' magazine's list of 100 greatest punchers of all time. Brett Derrell Maxie (born January 13, 1962) is an American football coach and former player who is a defensive backs coach of the National Football League (NFL). He was a defensive back for 13 seasons for the NFL's New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, and San Francisco 49ers. He spent the 2007 NFL season as a defensive assistant with the Miami Dolphins. On February 11, 2008 Maxie was named the assistant defensive coach with the Dallas Cowboys under Dave Campo. Max Hermann Maxy (also known as M. H. Maxy, born Max Herman; October 26, 1895–July 19, 1971) was a Romanian painter, art professor, scenographer, and professor of German-Jewish descent. Early life and education Maxy was born in Brăila in 1895, into a Jewish family. In 1902, following his mother's early death, he and his family moved to the national capital Bucharest. Between 1913 and 1916, Maxy studied at the School of Fine Arts, where Camil Ressu and Frederic Storck were among his teachers. He fought in World War I, an experience which significantly influenced his painting. Michael Klinger (born 4 July 1980) is an Australian former first-class cricketer, who held the record for the most runs scored in the Big Bash League when he retired in 2019. Until the 2008–09 season, Klinger played for Victoria and for St Kilda Cricket Club in Premier Cricket. Peggy Joan Maxie (born August 18, 1936) is an American former politician in the state of Washington. Maxie was the first African-American woman elected to the Washington House of Representatives, serving the 37th district from 1971 to 1983. She was the prime sponsor the Landlord-Tenant Act in Washington state. Representing the Central District, Seattle, along with parts of Capitol Hill and Downtown, she worked to preserve her district and the representation of Central District in the legislature.
