Max Syring
Max Syring (20 August 1908 – 14 April 1983) was a German long-distance runner who won a bronze medal over 10,000 m at the 1938 European Championships. He competed at the 1932 Summer Olympics in the 5,000 and 10,000 m events and finished in sixth and fifth place, respectively; he failed to reach the 5,000 m final at the 1936 Summer Olympics. In retirement, Syring worked as an athletics coach. 1938 European Athletics Championships
The 2nd European Athletics Championships was a continental athletics competition for European athletes which was held in two places in 1938. The men's event took place in Paris, France between 3–5 September while the women's events were in Vienna, Austria (at the time part of Nazi Germany) on 17 and 18 September. A total of 32 events were contested at the two competitions, comprising 23 events for men and 9 for women. The 1932 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the X Olympiad and also known as Los Angeles 1932) were an international multi-sport event held from July 30 to August 14, 1932 in Los Angeles, California, United States. The Games were held during the worldwide Great Depression, with some nations not traveling to Los Angeles; 37 nations competed, compared to the 46 in the 1928 Games in Amsterdam, and then-U.S. President Herbert Hoover did not attend the Games. The 1936 Summer Olympics (German: ''Olympische Sommerspiele 1936''), officially known as the Games of the XI Olympiad (German: ''Spiele der XI. Olympiade'') and commonly known as Berlin 1936 or the Nazi Olympics, were an international multi-sport event held from 1 to 16 August 1936 in Berlin, Germany.
