The Foster Boy
''The Foster Boy'' (german: Der Verdingbub) is a 2011 Swiss drama film directed by Markus Imboden. It dramatizes the fate of two Verdingkinder in Emmental. Plot Max is an orphan whose one true passion is to play the accordion. He is sent to the Bosigers farm where he meets Berteli who is also with the Bosigers as a foster child. Even though they are cared for by being fed and sent to school, Max and Berteli are treated like servants. Berteli is upset at being separated from her mother and at first Mrs Bosiger shows tenderness towards her by giving her chocolate when she cries at the dinner table. Max is indifferent towards Berteli in the beginning but later on develops a genuine affection towards her. Max has a pet rabbit which he loves and Berteli innocently tells Jakob, the Bosigers son, about it, who cruelly kills the rabbit and brings the meat for Mrs Bosiger to cook. Willi Herold
Willi Herold (11 September 192514 November 1946), also known as "the Executioner of Emsland", was a German war criminal. Near the end of World War II in Europe, Herold deserted from the German Army and, posing as a ''Luftwaffe'' captain, organized the mass execution of German army deserters held at a prison camp. Herold was arrested by British forces and executed for war crimes on 14 November 1946 at Wolfenbüttel prison. Early life Herold was born on September 11, 1925, in Lunzenau, a smalltown in Saxony, Germany. The Shooting Stars Awards are presented annually by the pan-European network organization European Film Promotion (EFP) to emerging actors from Europe. "Shooting Stars" is an initiative of the EFP for the international promotion and networking of promising up-and-coming actors from the 37 respective EFP member countries. Since 1998, ten talents selected from all over Europe have been presented each year during the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) to the international press, the general public, and the film industry.
